How many people here use free hosting services for their main business Websites? I am just trying to take an informal poll. :)

I'm afraid it won't reflect too well on your business if you have it hosted on a free service.

I dont beleive that to be the case. FreeHostia and AwardSpace are really very good examples of free hosting, if your just getting started with this online malarky, one of the 2 i mentioned is a great place to start!

But i personally use dedicated servers for my sites.

I'm sure there are many who use free hosting services for their businesses, particularly ones that don't require an online presence

Free hosting would not sit nicely especially if you are running a business and requesting people to pay you for your service. Web hosting have gone down a lot in price in the last 5 years and it is simply very affordable now.

I have always used shared hosting. It only costs me $5/month and its great! Maybe if my sites become more popular, I will have to move to a dedicated server.

I do, sort of. WHB allows up to 4 self referrals, and you get 100% of the sales, so if you refer yourself, you basically get free hosting.

I don't use Free Hosting. They're highly unreliable and put too many restrictions. I'm better off paying.
    Thanks,

You obviously don't know alot about the free hosting market.

Many are just as reliable and fast as many payed hosts, and some free hosts offer better support!

We a recurrently setting up a network around this niche, So keep an eye out!

I don't think many people use free hosts for their "main" business websites as it can cause lot of probs. Personally, I dont use free hosts for main sites but sometimes I use free hosts when I want to try out something.

    Hi,

I am currently using a Free Host to set up my website.
Up to now, I am quite happy as far as speed and reliability is concern...

I did google "Shall I use free hosting" but did not see anything against it...

    Ace

PS.: pm me if you are looking for a Free webhost...

I use free hosting for beta versions of my projects and smaller full time sites.
The link in my sig is a fantastic free host that allows you to host your own domain and is totally ad free.

As long as your traffic isn't through the roof they do an excellent job.
I have not had any issues yet:)

I don't use free hosts. If I'm serious about my business I would invest in my own server or a reliable shared host. Putting a business on a free host is unreliable because your not paying for your services so you never know when it'll be up or down.

Thanks to all for the feedback! :)

cnwelf, I offer free hosting, and there are many other choices, too. Freewebspace.net and free-webhosts.com list many of the free hosts that are available.

Actually, to those of you who say free hosting is not reliable, there are now several reliable choices out there. And mine is not the only one. I know of a few others that have been around several years with 99.9% uptime. Anyway, I really do appreciate all of the input - it gave me the information I needed. :)
