I made a guy a layout header and logo for his site.

I had been talking to him for a really long time and he seemed really nice and friendly and not one of those guys who would waste ur time or even steal ur work.

    Which made me trust him.

I then gave him my account details and he said that he paid it in and that it would take 24 hours to be put into my account.

The next day, I checked and it still hadn't been put into my account.

So, I sent him offline messages and emails and ever since he has not been online.
So, he musta blocked me cos he was always online [most of the time].

I sent him lots of emails and got no replies.

Today I decided to check his site out and realised the header [the one i made him] is on the website but the colour of it has changed.

He is NOT using the logo or layout I made.

But he is using the HEADER i made!! and didn't even pay me!

is there anything i can do?
    HELP!!

p.s I'm NEVER trusting anyone ever again!

You can report this to the admins so he can get banned or blocked here in DP.

You can try emailing the host of the site, and maybe they will take his site offline-- but thats why you should ALWAYS watermark samples and completed work until you confirm payment sent. Never trust the word of anyone. It's unfortunate, but that's how the internet works. Good luck next time =(.

No. Actually we don't get involved in the personal business matters of our members.

We will ignore any such reports.

no matter ow long I've known em through the net and no matter how sweet and friendly they seem.

This is the last mistake I will ever make.

I WANT MY MONEY!!! it aint fair!

How do I know what the host of the site is?

you whois the domain and look for the name servers, then do some research on it, or do a traceroute to see where the servers are located, and proceed from there. Often times it's easy to find out who the host is.

Sorry I'm still new to this forum and I'm kinda curious :)

    i checked whois.com

found the person's full name and address
    and the 2 name servers
    but who do I contact?

cos the links to their name servers come up with a page saying

"Seeing this page instead of your normal website?

Please contact web hosting support right away, your account may have been temporarily disabled."

You can try using the whois information for THEIR domain if it looks like the guys real information, and try contacting him via those methods -- but what you have to do with the name servers is do a whois or a traceroute on them, if you post the information here I might be able to help a little bit.

Ok, I just got half the payment into my paypal from him, just a few minutes ago.
He left a message saying "hi. WILL EXPLAIN AT SOME POINT. other half of payment on tuesday."

    hmm..wonder what his reason was.

    I'll leave this then.

Thanks for all your help people.

    1) I've learnt my lesson; Never give out the final result until after payment

    2) maybe he was broke. But he'll explain soon

    3) I have a right to get angry and "whine". At the end of the day I lost out on busines [ well not no more] ..but yh :p

    4) I never said I'm going to stop business! NO WAY

    :D
