How to find a coder without getting spammed?

Recently, I have been in need of a qualified coder & designer that can develop a video, picture, joke, game, and article upload script for one of my sites.

However, everytime I seem to announce that I need one, I get PMed with junk, usually beginning with "Hello Sir/Maams, I am qualified....blah blah blah"

What are some good programmers/designers that can do my project for mid $xxx and is down to earth?

Not scriptlance or any of those places, they do the same thing.

    Anyone?

You might look at list of certified coders at http://www.zend.com/. There were 38 certified coders in state of Texas.

Could you send me your spec sheet or an outline? I will quote you once I see exactly what you need.

    Thanks.

I believe Weirfire here on DP could do a good job. You could ask him.

We have many serious developers and our rate is very reasonable. However we only work with ASP.NET(still a little ASP). It sounds like what you are looking for is only a script page... which is a simple task. Give us an outline of what you want! We can either give you a quote or refer you to other people!

Thanks Jim for the referral :)

As a matter of fact we can do all those things that you asked and if you PMed me with more details I could give you a quote for each part. I can't guarentee that it will be mid $xxx but I can guarentee I'll be able to give you a quality service for a fair price.

    Thanks again Jim :)

I get that too on Get A freelancer. Ask for a simple data entry job and there comes all the "Dear esteemed sir, we are qualified C++ and JAVA engineers" blah blah. You just have to ignore them or write in your pitch you don't want to hear that crap. With GAF you can put them on ignore so you can quickly delete the 15 muppets and keep the 4 or 5 good ones.

I still prefer GAF for simple things though DP has been good as well.

Yeah I hate that about getafreelancer. I find it's almost a waste of time posting a job there if it has any sort of special coding that needs done.

Example job I've posted on GAF

Need a quality Flash animated banner for a Formula 1 site

They're obviously just copying and pasting their line into every job that comes up.

Ask someone you trust to recommend people they have used. I would never hire someone who i knew nothing about. Too many scammers and kids out there who think they can code but cant.
