    Too bad XP & Vista were the only choices, as both are unstable, have huge gaping security holes and have more headaches than one could speak of. But if I had to choose, I'd definately say XP is the way to go - Vista was released prematurely and consumes cast resources.

    we have both in the house,xp mainframe and vista laptops.i prefer xp for what i use the comp for,vista is just pretty colours and flashing lights

    which is pretty funny since we use XP AND I disable all the visual stuff to make the performance better....what makes MS think I want a MUCH more sophisticated 'bells and whistles' type OS?

    I am interested though...benchmarks between XP&Vista based on Dual Core technology

    They usually stop support when the old version in superceded by two newer versions, so probably when Windows 7 comes out.

    xp is better for now. But once vista is settled then it will be vista. I may upgrade to vista just as VistaXP comes out though.
