What Is This Ad? Wordpress Glitch?

So I added a block (medium rectangle) ad to my wordpress post by pasting it in the code view.
I then saved the post and it showed up fine. But when I then edited the post in code view, the adsense code was changed to:

    <center><script type="text/javascript"><!-- google_ad_client = "pub-xxxx"; /* block */ google_ad_slot = "xxxxxx"; google_ad_width = 300; google_ad_height = 250; //--> </script>
    <script src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js" type="text/javascript"> </script></center>
    PHP:
Without the paragraphs, etc. So when I saved this, I got a weird looking ad that was CLICKABLE ALL OVER not just the link and title and it looks like nothing I've seen before. The colour scheme is completely changed so I don't know what happened :confused:. There is also no Ads By Google logo :S.
I've now deleted the ad because it scared me off but what's the explanation to this?

Regenerate the code and re-insert. If it still doesn't work there is some coding that is conflicting with the AdSense code.

Make sure you take care of it!

I'm not sure adding the code into the post (using the 'code' in the publish section) will work. Hardcoding might take care of the problem; or AdSense Deluxe Plugin.

Definitely something conflicting with the adsense code and a major violation of their program terms.

Take them off your website until you get it fixed.

You may also want to download the wordpress plugin called "Adsense Deluxe".

Yeah I said I took it down as soon as I noticed it. It's just really strange as I haven't seen it before.

Yeah, it basically means your ad code is messed up. It happens all the time, don't be worried :)

it is an ad without the style.
it is not reading the style.
i don't use WP,but the plugin must format the code so the javascript can read the style.

You are commenting everything before //--> in the first line. Change your code to:

    <center><script type="text/javascript">google_ad_client = "pub-xxxx"; /* block */ google_ad_slot = "xxxxxx"; google_ad_width = 300; google_ad_height = 250; </script>
    <script src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js"

    Code (markup):
Removing the <!-- & //-->, it should now work fine.

    Peace,

thats your answer. Do you have 2 adsense plugins installed on WP? i have this happened if you have shylock adsense + adsense deluxe both running at same time. your ads gets screwed up.

if thats not the case, then Mostly it's a template coding issue

its definitely because either you are breaking their guidelines or you tring to fit a bigger ad unit in less space

i have seen this kind of adsense ads on other sites as well and never really understood why it was like that. thought some new google experiment or something, never thought it could be coding issue from webmaster's side :)

Haven't got any adsense plug-ins so it must be some coding from the template interfering with it.
Well, I'll just leave it for now :p.

The comment delimiters <!-- and //--> are actually part of the generated code, so it's not a good idea to remove it. In general, it's not a good idea to paste any kind of JavaScript directly into a post, the idea way to do these things is using a WordPress plugin like AdSenseDeluxe or by directly modifying the WordPress theme.
