First of all, you should submit ur sites to major search engines. Then submit ur sites to top social networks websites.

 

the first thing to do is to submit your site to those search engines like google, yahoo, msn, etc..

Then you try to work in directory submission using targeted keywords.. article submission, and the next steps are blog and forum posting...

Prioritize to do some directory submission first..

 

I agree with ninja's statement. i prefer to put my link on my signature before I do directory submission and submit article..

The word I find best in SEO is: diversification. In other words, don't just use two strategies, use many and get links in any way you can think of, just be creative and im sure you will come up with plenty of ways.
