Ok, my forum is at domain.com/smf/ will it hurt seo because it is at /smf/ ? One more thing, what is a seo friendly way to make domain.com point to domain.com/smf
No but you could've used something different that may have helped it out 301 redirect (usually found in your cpanel) is the easiest. You can also use your htaccess file for the redirect.
My dear Friend There will not be any difference if you the URL is with or without a trailing slash. foreg. http://domain.com/rock/ and http://domain.com/rock Both are equal and same but the thing is that google will view both these pages as different pages having same content and you will be penalized for duplicate content. Similar is the case with URLs with and without www. So better you should do permanent redirect to trailing one. Cool Mate and Enjoy your day Dashanan Sharma
It will not hurt in any way, possibly 3rd level could be better depends on what are you planing on doing with your 2nd level domain in the future.
I have question is the blogs which redirect your comments but put you site in the title like : title="http://mysite.com" href="http://www.site.com/redirect"> is it a good backlink?
Its better to open a new thread and ask your question there.. Wait, I think you have done that already forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=773262
