New Puppy!

I know we've got a few dog lovers on here so thought you might like to hear about my new puppy. He is a six week old presa canario, sandy brindle. I know six weeks is much to young to be away from mum, but he basically was rescued from a BYB where he had been kept in a yard with 9 other pups, swimming in dogshit and pee and fed watery chicken and rice gruel.

I had no intention of getting a puppy right now and have waited for years for the right time to get my next dog - the perfect gsd from a reputable breeder. Funny how things work out. I will have to wait another couple of years for my GSD but little Tito has settled right in and my kids (and me) are crazy about him.

I have started clicker training with him and he has already got sit down pat. Clever little guy. I never clicker trained before and I am gobsmacked by how effective it is. Anyone else done any of that?

Aww poor thing.. glad he has a good home now :)
Never really heard of clicker training. My dog came from the pound and he used to listen really well but he seems to have forgotten everything these last few years :D

Do you have pictures of your new pup? :D

your a good person rescuing that puppy. too many assholes out there who churn out puppies for profit and don't care for them properly.

our dog came to us that way, he was abused and not taken care of properly, that was 6 years ago. now he is around 90 lbs and quite healthy. boxer pitbull mix, he's a good dog and i'm glad we kept him. :)

Only crappy ones so far. But even crappy photos of pups are better than none at all, right. :) I'll upload a couple when I find my camara (supposing that little piranha face hasn't eaten it yet.)

Way, way too many out there, Sawz. :( Your boxer/pitty is a lucky guy because many people wouldb't even give a dog of that mix a second chance - abused or not.

Sorry the pictures aren't very good. He's great at ...

    And he's learning to ...

Awww those pictures are adorable! :D
That's the cutest pup ever! I can't believe people abused the poor thing like that.

I still remember when I got my dog, he used to be scared of everything. I hope more people start giving abused animals the life they deserve :)

Finally you got a new companion in Tito. The objective of having a pet is to get emotional well being. Hope Tito will do that and in return take care of him well. :)

It doesn't really matters if Tito isn't from a top breed...it's important to love him and to become you two the best friends! :D

The photos are adorable! I would love to get another puppy, but the roommate won't go for it :p

My German Shepherd just turned one and I love him to death. I rescued him from a canyon when he was just a tiny little thing... now he's huge! I have no idea why anyone would abandon a puppy; while my dog wasn't abused, he suffers from severe separation anxiety whenever I leave; I think that has to do with being abandoned so young.

That pup really need a perfect home. At last it landed in safe hands. I am having two dogs- GSD only (1:1). Clicker training will help your pup a lot. Please go ahead... Added rep to you because you're a dog lover...:)

DeniseJ, I love German Shepherds. Absolutely excellent dogs. I am getting started on clicker training with my new guy and what what I have read so far there are so many applications including seperation anxiety. It might be just the thing for your baby.

Kitty, thank you. I now also have two dogs. My boxer is giving Tito the cold shoulder at the moment but we're making sure that she doesn't feel left out and insisting that everybody who visits ignores the puppy and gives SKye lots of attention. I also have a cat (just one since my beautiful Jerry died just before Christmas). She just took to the puppy straight away. All the animals are doing fine, its the kids I have the bother with.
