Blair under fire over God comments

Tony Blair has been accused of bringing religion into politics. The British prime minister has caused a stir by mentioning God in a discussion about the war in Iraq.

In a television interview, he said that God and history would be his final judges on whether it was right to pursue military action against Saddam Hussein.

Some families of British soldiers who have died in Iraq have attacked his comments. One father said religion had nothing to do with the war, and another relative said she was disgusted.

More than a hundred troops from the UK have been killed in operations in the country.

The comments have also drawn criticism from the opposition Liberal Democrats in Britain. They said going to war should not be an act of faith.

Going against the grain of political tradition in the UK, Blair has never shied away from expressing his religious convictions.

And he frequently attends mass with his wife Cherie, who is a devout Catholic.

When did Prime Minister Tony Blair ever say his faith is the reason why he authorized the use of force?

    Take your time, I'll wait.

I agree. I see nothing wrong in his speech. Isn't God the final judge anyways?

It seems to me that if you are not an Athiest, the statement that God will be your final judge is reasonably inarguable.
