It's possible that they may not do anything about this for a while, since they can't just ban him without having tangible proof that he actually scammed someone.

At best, you can expose him in a thread for all to see. Share your experience. But I don't know if that would be according to the TOS. You might get into trouble.

It's really a messed up situation!

Not a bad idea i would try contacting the hosting company. Show them this thread along with your proof of payment.

Not a very bright crook, reselling the same site again so soon, youd think he'd wait till the dust clears, or just pick any old site and buy it :/ . . .

    weird ppl.

Sorry that he robbed you, that has to sting sooo much, been there a few times, never for $2500 though .. ouch.

Don't be to hard on that guy that posted a warning, not such a bad thing wanting to keep people from getting scammed.

he's still a member on SitePoint too, and I KNOW that has to sting, but hopefully, anyone that goes to do business with him will at the very least look at his previous posts, which will bring them here.

I always search both google, and any forum I am aware that someone is a member of before doing any business with them, it's more a matter of curiosity with me.. but what Im saying is, even though he's a member, when he should be publically stoned instead, the facts are here, and because of you, noone else should get ripped off.

Look how quickly his sitepoint auction was shut down.. someone posted it here, it was reported and closed.

Sorry for your loss but your also at fault here due to the fact that your on the internet which is famous for scam transactions. They should have taught you this before you logged on. =/ Next time use escrow. 2.5k is alot of money to lose.

Contacting the host and registrar of the site is not very useful, because it is extremely easy for someone to come on here, say they own a site, and not actually have anything to do with it. We have no proof this guy actually owns and operates the site. It is equivalent to me coming on here and trying to sell Google.com for $2500. Sadly I doubt you will ever see the site, or money again. Sorry to be so blunt, but I guess we have to learn somehow :( It is just really shitty that it was a $2500 lesson that you had to learn from. I hope everyone can learn from this to be smart when they buy sites and do commerce over the internet... although it seemed dfortin was being smart when he got all of the guys information, including drivers license. Just shows you how careful you really have to be.

Note: DO NOT USE WESTERN UNION OR ANYTHING SIMILAR TO THAT PAYMENT METHOD!
