I have just completed the initial stages of design on my SEO site: TrueSEO

What do you guys think on the overall design, placement of ads, and navigational ability?

Any suggestions on what to add or take away?

It's got a fresh feel, and nice colours. I liked the Alt Tags article.
The ads blend in well with the site overall, which I think is preferable.

It's clean looking but not that out of the ordinary. Nothing about it stands out imho. Good job overall though and I think if you can find 1 thing to splash it that it will be perfect.

Well for one why are you using an image for the background when you can do a color instead?

For another you should CSS/XHTML that layout..it should be fairly easy then you can control color and border elements better. I would consider a border on the left and right side of your main area.

The background image has very fine lines, its not just a colour.
Sometimes I prefer a background image for my sites.

You should choose a more noticable image then..it just looks like a solid color. Maybe your resolution is lower and so you see the lines but I am 1280x1024 and it just looks grey.

Thank you for all your kind comments.

Does anyone have a suggestion of an image background that would work for this site?

You could add some space between the Google ads and your text and menu.
It might look nicer and all areas will be more prominent.
