Speech that Barack Obama made BEFORE the Iraq War

Here is an excerpt from a speech Barack Obama made BEFORE the Iraq War (explaining why he was opposing the US going to war against Iraq):

Pretty amazing how what he said BEFORE the Iraq invasion turned out to be true.
Yeah, the "less-experienced" presidential candidate appears to be the one who was right on Day 1.

 

Lets face it though, everyone who is living outside the US knew this as well.
He had guts to say it when most of the US was baying for blood though.

A democrat disagreeing with the Republican agenda? Holy crap!

 

Barack Obama was right on Day 1... So also was Dr. Ron Paul...

 

It's very important not to project our perspectives on the candidates, but to listen carefully to what they say and do, so as to sort out any ambiguities.

This to me sounds more like he is opposed to the Bush war (a very popular position, and super popular in the Democratic party) as opposed to being a man of peace.

In fact, I don't hear him talk a lot about peace, although I haven't spent a lot of time analyzing all of his speeches.

My big concern about Obama, is that he has voted with the crowd, enabling the war, surveillance and police state at every step. No one can rationalize to me how that is a position of integrity. That he says one thing but does another.

Lots of folks laugh at RP for voting alone, until I point out what he voted alone on. Then they shut up, because they realize that doing the unpopular thing in politics, can sometimes be very courageous.

 

Guerilla there is no doubt in my mind and heart that RP would have been the best candidate out of them all, but if you had to pick the lesser of the 3 puppets who would you vote for?

 

The lesser of 3 evils is still evil.

The lesser of 3 puppets is still a puppet.

Besides his amazing speaking ability, there is absolutely no reason in his voting record to indicate he will be any better than McCain or Clinton.

Reagan was the same way. Talked a great game, lied to the nation and sold out his principles.

I dunno.

 

The problem is most Democrats weren't disagreeing with the Republican agenda on that particular issue. Cough... Hillary... cough.

 

Would you rather have someone who supports all wars, including dumb ones????

Obama did not support the Iraq War, NOT because he thought it was Bush's war. Obama did not support the Iraq War because he did NOT see the NECESSITY of this dumb war. Read his speech carefully.

Yeah, that's the problem. Look at these candidates voting records. They are essentially the same, or they wouldn't be there.

 

He just recently said this below:

Well he's leaps and bounds above Hillary and McCain I guess.

 

Even though he is the best candidate to lead the United States, I doubt that he'll win.
This country usually elects warmongers, liars and cheaters.
The last honest man that was elected as president was Jimmy Carter and he only lasted one term.

 

I'm not sure. I hope it's not Hillary that's elected. I trust her less than I trusted Bill (although he did do some things well). I can't stand any of the Bush's.

Which doesn't leave me with any president in the past 2+ decades that I've liked much.

 

He was right, but i'm not sure why he took that position. He made some bold claims for that time. Statements such as "I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States". When every single piece of intelligence said otherwise... isn't this what people criticized Bush for? Supposedly Bush was aware of the threat, but did nothing. Which way is it? Should we listen to our intelligence or not?

 

The intelligence was fabricated and people who were "connected" knew it. Under any other circumstance than the shadow of the 9/11 attacks, Bush would not have been able to get people to go along with the imminent destruction scenarios.

There are people in intelligence who actually love America and try to provide the best possible information. Those people haven't been able to express themselves until the recent Iran NIE, which backs up what most of the world's media and agencies were reporting publicly, but never received light of day in the domestic US.

While Fox was showing "War with Iran" graphics, the rest of the world was reading about Iranian leaders going to Switzerland to negotiate with the US, only to be rebuffed by the Bush executive, and the ayatollah issuing a Fatwa against nuclear proliferation.

I mean really, how many people knew that Ahmadinejad was elected, and would probably not win his re-election campaign? Most folks were being sold that he was Adolf Hitler, which couldn't be further from the truth. Ahmadinejad is an idiot, Hitler was insane.
