freebanner: thanks for the entry. It's a pleasant one but the wrong style. I am looking for something more "rugged"

offiri0: looking good. very good concepts. If I pick yours I may ask for some small shade changes but at this stage I am looking more at concepts and I must say yours is one of my favourite ones

jamess: thanks for entering this. It looks good and simple. Normally I am a big fan of simple. However it looks perhaps a little modern and this time I am after something a little more "rugged"

kenzie: thanks for the submission. Great font you used, very suitable. Other than that though I can't say I like much. The whole thing doesn't flow well together and the beans don't really look like beans.

ameyjah: I'd love to give you my feedback but I can't see the image

xaralee: great concept. Looks good. The only tough question is whether is strong enough to win (I'm still thinking) but definitely looking good.

ameyjah: I can now actually also see it on the thread but earlier today I couldn't. Yours is a very tough one to judge. I like it very much. But it seems like it's more of a photo than a logo. It is a very pleasant photo though and the fonts and colours you used also look top notch. My only dilemma now is whether I like a photo incorporated into the logo. Overall I like it as it's very stylish.

turns: great to see you again and thanks for the entry. It looks good and it's most certainly got an African feel. This is one of those rare occassions where I'm getting in trouble with the wife. She really likes your design but me on the other hand I have slightly different views. I think you probably tried a little too hard somehow. Maybe it's just me but I think it needs to look a little more "serious". Not sure how to fully explain. If I didn't have so many strong entries I would certainly consider yours. My wife is still pressing me to seriously consider yours. She really likes it.

ameyjah: I agree with you and that's why I am so confused. I thought I need a logo and yet after seeing your design I truly like this concept of using a photo. If I choose yours as the winner, is there an extra charge for using the photo?

As a married man I've found that it is sometimes good to go for the wife's opinion. :D

Just kidding. Go for whatever fits your need best...

here's another go. I tried to keep some "African flavour" but make it a little more serious.

Appreciate all the feedback you give too.

Hey turns it's looking good. My wife likes this one as well. I'm sorry to disapoint you but it's really late at my end and need to get some rest. I will come back with feedback in about 12hrs or less from now. I am also going to decide on the finalists and want to give the finalists a chance to do some small alterations if they wish to so I can then choose the winner. Your new submission is one of the finalists but I want to give detailed feedback so I will do it when I return (too late for me right now).

If anyone else is considering entering this it's still open and most likely a winner will be chosen within 24hrs from this post.

jamess, thank you for the new entry. The new font definitely looks better. If I was to purchase this logo from you I would have asked to have some kind of background for it. What I would do is make the rectangle smaller and "fill" the inside with some pattern or something. If I did not have other strong entries I would definitely have bought this from you (after asking for this small alteration).

The Finalists: this is what I've decided to do. I decided on 3 finalists and it's up to you guys to do the requested changes so I can decide on the winner.

offiri0: #17 middle one. What I need of you is leave the whole design as it is but play around with the colours a little to see if you can make it a little more colorful somehow but don't take away from the "rugged" style. I have attached a logo someone else did for me in another competition and what I like in this logo is how he made the bean look a little "brighter" without going overboard. So see if you can do something similar to the whole design. Just some shading or small colouring to make it look brighter/more colourful. I think yours is my favorite.

Turns: you have a real chance here and not just because the wife likes it. Entry #40 is the one I am considering. But I need the following: west african and cocoa beans need to have some space between them. I need some space between the line. I may be wrong here but I think the border will also look better if you placed that same motif on the actual borderline as you did for the circle around the bean (brown with broken yellow line on it).

Patrick, yours looks good but it's my least favorite of the top three without as it is. It's up to you if you want to try and improve it or not. Don't get me wrong, I still like it, I think it's very suitable but a little plain. If you were able to incorporate some elements from the postage stamp into the actual logo I think it would also be a strong contender.

ameyjah, I really like that photo that you used but I decided to go with the logo since I wanted a logo. However, I would still like to buy it from you so send me a pm with a price for the photo including the letters you placed on it.

Once again, thank you to everyone who entered this contest and I must honestly say that deciding on a winner was actually hard and xaralee and jamess also had some very strong and suitable entries. But unfortunately there can only be one winner (and one second place).

Thanks xara. I look forward to your entry in my next contest. Just one question though, how can I post smaller images on the thread? Everytime I post images on the thread they look huge. Any tips on making them look smaller?

I think you may need to reduce the size using some graphics editor software before posting into this thread.

    Cheers!

Hey Turns. I certainly like it. Let's see what the other finalists come up with before I decide on the order, first/second. Thanks.
