How easy would it be to get a keyword with 74000 results to top 10 google? Or that keyword along with another one with 41000 results?
I'm just wondering how long would it take and also if I paid some one to do it what sort of budget would I need?

That depends on a lot of different factors bud, but on the surface it doesn't seem too hard. It would be a lot easier if your website is aged, is it? You could do them both at the same time and likely have success quickly if your site isn't brand new. JMO

Very easy since you have the keywords in the URL. Just start building some backlinks with the anchor text and you will be up there in no time assuming your not in the "sandbox"

6 months and a lot of hard work it should be do able. New domain is a minus. As long as the content is original. I would start a blog as part of the domain and post at least 3 times a week. Digg each post and select the titles carefully. Title's are OH so important on blog post!! Take the traffic at the blog and give them links to the main site. Make sure the post are all original content.

Get links, DMOZ and pay for the yahoo directory.

    Good luck

Its not very tough but it all depends upon the competiton for that keyword.

As your site is new so it will take even more than 8 months to get top position. so keep building quality backlink.
Finally about the budget if you assign me this task then i will do it for you for one keyword in top 3 position in google for 200£ only.

    Thanks mate

    Really easy! :D

On one of my domains I just chucked on some niche site, and got 800 backlinks for it, and with a PR0, and alexa of over 3.5 million, it managed to appear number 7 in google, for a search term with nearly 10 million results! :D

And still is you can PM me for more info if you like! ;)

41,000 and 74,000 results. Do those keywords get any traffic at all?

It should be extremely easy to rank in the top 3 for those keywords.

Submit to free directories with the keywords as your title (anchor text). Don't even waste time writing articles, etc. That little competition is too easy to rank for. You could probably be on front page in one or two weeks.

thanks for all the advice lads. I'll have a read at that link in a minute paul.
Theres no real competition as such, most of the results are info pages like theregister, posts on blogs etc.

the quoted results are not quite correct

the result for first keyword is google uk only 74900 and the whole web 350000
the results for both keywords ik only 39500 whole web 21400

I managed to get #1 on Google for "Rip pimp c t shirt" without the quotes and that has 105,000 results - it only took me 2-3 weeks :)

I'm in the top 10 for plenty of other keywords too, some which have 1 million results, again about 2 weeks... It all depends on how competitive your niche is...

You just need to hit the URL with enough anchor text from pages that pass juice. Its a matter of building a list of link sources you can tap, and taking advantage of them.
