earning nothing with free directory

    will a free directory owner always remain poor? i don't see anybody bothered to use the featured link. Ads doesn't monetize. So what can a free directory owner do to make something. please give some valuable tips. not just some links or something like that. assume that the directory remains in zero pr.

    reviewing and approving site is real tough job. anybody has any idea to turn some money on with a free directory?

    I do have a Free Directory site running, but honestly, I hardly try to monetise the site for revenue. I don't think you can really come up with it.

    Monetising is probably quicker with blog sites that have articles that are constantly updated.

    people generally submit to directories for BL's, if you have no PR you basically have nothing to sell. You need to work on building the value of the links you are offering, then you have something which you can sell.

    Would you pay money for a link in a directory with no PR yourself?

    In addition, if you have no PR I would assume your SERP's are going to be pretty bad, therefore you will have little or no organic traffic to click on your ads.

    i own a free web directory with pr 0 from the latest google update,
    it monetizes a few hundreds within one year for selling feature links...

    I think free directories can only make good money from becoming VERY strong and having a $10 express review fee - therefore being free and paid.

    Usually it will remain poor because of dmoz, nobody else is going to bother submitting to another one to the level where your going to get bought out by Netscape to fund you. A foreign language niche or very rare non used niche is also likely to earn large amounts of adsense as its pretty much untapped and plenty of adsense money to share through them.

    The only reason adsense doesn't pay dividends now is because the adverts are spread so thinly you almost have to pay Google to show them. I remember one time I actually earned -.04 cents!:eek:

    my free directory made $1000 in january and $500 in feb, so far for this month.. about $200 I think....from featured links and adsense..
    don't think you can earn too much if you don't use featured links option.

    Thats' hard to believe but seeing as you have so much adsense on it I wouldn't be surprised. Good luck if you did though. :)

    make your directory accept any sponsor at sidebar... if you have good visitor and it will attract more sponsor.. just my2cents... sorry if i wrong..

    i also running free blog directory (1pr just update), just looking for featured to make profits but i still make a improve or update everyday to make it grow :)

    i use the free method to improve my directories :) :- just submit your directories to anothers one... <-- don't have money to invest... :)

    p/s : i not looking the fast way, but the good way make it step by step and it's will more worth...

    p/s : sorry my bad in english... but i still like to share :p

    Free directory will get free and fast traffic to your site but not earning, keep some advertising spot in your site to earn money like site wide link for sell (keep add url cost free but advertising cost some amount)

    AdSense will never work on a free web directory because 70% from overall traffic is represented by Indians and you will get less than 0,2 per click.

    You can try :)
    Also, if you use statcounter or analytics you will see how much traffic comes from India :D
