How to Get Your Money When Someone Buys Your Site

    Okay,

I'm selling a PR 5 site here. Now I'm totally new to this. I have a paypal account and would have the money placed there. Now I want to know from experienced buyers/sellers here, how do you garuntee that someone gives you the money without ripping you off.

i.e. if I give the person the info on the site he could pay $0 and walk away with the site.

But he might feel uncomfortable giving me full money because he thinks I won't hand over the site.

    What procedure do you use?

For $85 I wouldn't sweat it too much. If it were $8500, I'd put more thought into it.

Okay cool. Cause I had a deal for $100 for the site and the guy wanted to give me $50 up front, then I had to give him the username and password, and then he'd give me another $50.

    Sounded suspicous to me.

Escrow is a good option. Also, maybe half now and half on completion?

Sounds suspicious to me to unless he has a good reputation on the forums to back him up.

Usually its the buyer at risk , paying everything upfront. For big transactions like mentioned you use Escrow.

What is Escrow? And how is it different than Paypal?

And he is a member here at DP. But had an iTrader of 0, but seems like he bought a lot of stuff. Could have been me that freaked.

Escrow is not for a $100 transaction since its too expensive... its a middleman service... www.escrow.com

As a buyer I tend to do the 50/50 approach, but a lot does depend on how reliable or well known the seller is. For a $100 bucks though I'd normally just pay upfront.

Yea that's what I thought. I'm understanding of why people wouldn't just hand the money over, but there's a lot more than a site on the line.

My reputation. Can you imagine the backlash if I cheated someone here? It woul d be hell. Besides I wanna give this thing away, I just don't wanna get jipped.

    Escrow is interesting.
