The point is that you need clicks to determine what is working and what is not. You can then try to lower the cost by addressing QS and by other means.

If you start with .10 it will take you weeks if ever to get clicks needed to evaluate. Depending on the niche you may get your answer in 1 day with the higher bids.

So you're not actually lowering it each day, but rather sacrificing clicks for a few days and then begin to lower it to bring CPC down? Wow...thats a lot of money to be burning just for testing purposes

Great Insight, Just read most of the threads,Thanks AJ!

Just to let others know, most of the goog tips and info are in the first 15 or so posts. After that "Greg" starts posting and most comments don't add much value to the thread. With that said if you go over the first 15posts will get lots of great ideas to test.

On a side note I do have a question.
I do not think I read anything about using other PPC services. I'm guessing that Yahoo! content network is filled with to much garbedge to be profitable? It also does not help that for content the min bid is still 10 cents. Is this correct or have you tried using yahoo yet?

When you bid $.40-$.60 as the max bid for Content, it won't actually cost you that much each click (most of the time)... it might average out to $.10-.35 a click, depending on how fierce the competition is.

Anyone converting off of Myspace's through Adwords' content network? Clicks vary from .1-40/click.

I've had over 500,000 impressions on myspace with not one click. All while promoting something within the demographics of the myspace crowd. Their eyes must be distracted by all the dancing smilies and moving wallpaper crap.

myspace and youtube are the first to hit my site exclusion list. Advertising on those two sites is like using cash for toilet paper.

Guys, I read some posts that I was just coming into this thread without reading through it and accused of flaming, so I read through the entire thread. :(

To sum things up, most of this thread is just discussions about google adwords. If that's what you need help with than this thread will definitely help you.

On the other hand, if you're looking for ideas about actually doing well with affiliate marketing and "thinking outside of the box", you need to do more research. IMO there's really not much helpful information other than the adwords advice.

A great read to help you get started "thinking outside of the box" is Eli's post on how to make $100 a day, http://www.bluehatseo.com/how-to-make-a-100-per-day/.

Maybe this will help some of you guys that are looking for advice. If anything it should at least get your wheels turning and put your mind on the right track.

This thread is actually a huge inspiration to anyone who wants to make it in affiliate marketing. Basically, if you can setup a system to where you consistantly make $16.00 off $8.00-$10.00 in clicks, you will be able to make a TON of money.
