CJ - Can you sign up yourself and get a commission?

I see many webhosts that offer $50-$100 for web hosting referals. My question is this. Can you sign up yourself and get this commission or must you only refer others?

There are provisions that say "Don't do that" ... I wouldn't do it as the first or only sale you make with a vendor as it will likely be reversed. However if I make a few sales per day with a company, I wouldn't think they would raise an issue if I bought something with my link. People do it as well for "test orders" to make sure the commissions are being tracked and reported.

You may end up with an inquiry with an accusation like inflating the traffic by yourself from Network Quality.

It's like clicking on your own Adsense links. Never a good idea. It will usually say explicitly in the affiliate agreement that you can't do it.

    singx,

do not post CJ mails here - they'll kick you without warning. This already happened in this forum.

Anyway thanks for the info. ;)

websiteideas go through the first paragraph...
https://www.cj.com/psa.jsp will be violating PSA if they pay you for it...
This is what i get from it, if there is any alternate then i dont know about it, maybe someone experienced can help.

sorry for do not make it clear: CJ may kick you for publishing a mail that probably they have some kind of warning in the footer to do not do that.

See one of the posts that a kicked user warn another one to do not post CJ emails here:

I remember seeing a hosting provider that encouraged you to signup one account under your own affiliate link to get free hosting from them if you would like. Just go through all the advertisers terms. If they do not say you 'can' do it, then I wouldn't..
I think the provider was Globat, but don't quote me on that. Just go down the list of hosts and you'll find the one that I saw I'm sure..

Well, this seems to be something that is not well documented or understood. If anyone knows of any webhosts in particular that have absolutely nothing against this and even encourage it, please list these webhosts here.

The best idea is to just email the host IMO..

FYI - I've learned that Godaddy is OK with you buying from them using your own affiliate link.
