Article Directory Submissions VS Duplicate Content

Is there really any Duplicate Content penalty from search engines ?

Getting on way links from some good article directories seemed a really good opportunity a while ago. However, there are a lot of debates regarding this Duplicate Content penalty from search engines !

I don't see whether this penalty really exists, considering the fact that a search engine will only return the article from the most relevant site, while the other articles submitted by you will not be shown to the search engine users as a consequence of the search engine's duplicate filter.

So, does submitting the same article to various article directories risk a Duplicate Content Penalty, as I do not see any ?

Do not submit one articles in more than 6 or 7 article directories. There is limit of every thing so you should care.

I know webmasters that submit one article to 200 article directories, the process being spread over a longer period, and their sites are doing really well.

I guess that even if submitting to a large number of article directories and by spreading this process over a longer period, there is no harm in there.

Do you have any explanation for that ?

I have myself submitted the same article to about 150 article directories, and nothing bad happened. As long as the same article is not listed on the your site, there's no problem.

Even if everybody speaks about Duplicate Content, manual article submissions did not seem something bad for the sites I own.

I'm just curious if anyone saying it's something bad has even tried :)

That's why I've started this thread. I'm curious if there's someone who has tried this thing and just want to hear about some real facts.

    Good luck to everybody

Can you please explain why ?

Each article directory takes time to approve the article and the duplicate content penalty will be for the article directory as the prime motive is for the getting the backlinks.

I know a bunch of webmasters, web designers and SEO consultants that are doing manual article submissions and which have had good results for their sites.

I just thought it was a really good way of getting one way links to your site. However, recently there are a lot of rumors about this Duplicate Content Penalty.

So, I'm asking, is there anybody who has tried manually submitting the exact same article to article directories and got any penalty ?

As I've written above, I do not see such a penalty, that' s why I'm asking if there's anyone who had such a problem.

    Have a nice time :)
