Is Adsense best? No, it's fallen to #3

Rank your five best earners, here are mine:

    December 2007 ($4k)
    #1 - ValueClick = 35%
    #2 - Adsense = 32%
    #3 - Commission Junction = 16%
    #4 - Voxant Newsroom = 10%
    #5 - Widget Bucks = 2%

    January 2008 ($5k)
    #1 - Adsense = 32%
    #2 - ValueClick = 23%
    #3 - Commission Junction = 16%
    #4 - Voxant Newsroom = 15%
    #5 - Casale Media = 8%

    February 2008 ($6k)
    #1 - Adsense = 27%
    #2 - Commission Junction = 22%
    #3 - ValueClick = 20%
    #4 - Voxant Newsroom = 17%
    #5 - Casale Media = 11%

    March 2008 (in progress)
    #1 - Commission Junction = 33%
    #2 - ValueClick = 32%
    #3 - Adsense = 17%
    #4 - Voxant Newsroom = 12%
    #5 - Casale Media = 4%

Traffic and clicks increased each month, overall revenue is up, but Adsense keeps going down. I'm considering dropping from 3 ad blocks to only 2 per page.

My visitors are serious buyers, which I can see as increases in CJ and Amazon. Advertisers are spending more for cpm's, which I can see in ValueClick and CasalaMedia (together, they typically make 30% of my earnings). All I can say is "It's not the economy, it's Google".

I also use Adbrite + Axill + Bidvertiser + Canep Media + CPX, but they don't make much. So Adsense is still the best ppc, but my cpm's and cpa's are out-shining it.

    What works best for you?

I'm surprised valueclick is performing so well for you. I ended up removing all their code, as payments were getting further and further apart.

Valueclick seems to swing drastically every 45 days or so. December was the best payout ever. Beginning of February was terrible, but Casale picked up the slack. End of February and start of March were way up again.

Adsense is still #1 for me, but I'm fairly sure Commission Junction will be matching it within a couple of months.

You're comparing Apples to oranges. Adsense and CJ? You can't even make that earnings comparison.

I agree that you are comparing apples and oranges, but you can compare them as sources of revenue. So even though they are totally different, you can still say that one is a better source of income than the other.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think that that is what Creep was getting at.

So far I have made no money with CJ, even though I have their banner on all my sitges, and I would like to do better with Adsense (who wouldn't).

Adsense will work the best if only you increase the visibilities of the adsense ads on your blog. Which means make sure that your visitors won't miss it! :p
