Statcounter.com Vs. Google Analytics - Visitors tracking??

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by northwest, Mar 9, 2008.

I am trying to add some tracking for my websites. Which one is better? Statcounter.com OR Google Analytics? I have used statcounter.com before and it was OK. Recently, I started using Google analytics - I'm still exploring its features.

    WHich one is better??

    Thanks

I use them both. I like the ease of StatCounter and its graphic representation of traffic. I have found it worth upgrading to the $29/month fee documenting the most recent 25,000 visitors.

Google Analytics shows some additional info that StatCounter does not (and vice versa), so I use them both.

I personally won't touch Google Analytics with a 10 foot pole, thats way too much information to let Google have. I also read that it can affect your SERP position depending on bounce rate / average time on it....

If you have Adsense installed, Google already has all the needed information about your website.

The reason for me to use the google analytics is because I am using the the free adsense tracker. The free adsense click tracker (astrack) works only with google analytics. Currently, the tracker is not working. I still have to figure out why the tracker is not working. I needed both visitor tracking and the adsense tracking.

The astrack javascript isn't working on on e of my sites as well--I'm thinking it's the only site I've already upgraded to the newer GA code (the ga.js instead of the old urchin.js), but I can't see anything in the code that would make sense to me as to why that would have broken it. Anyone smarter than my with javascript code have any ideas?

As analytics is owned by G, because of people used to say it's the best,
But through Statcounter i can see from which IP address user had visited my site, which query he used for that,
did there visitor came from referring site.
I will give 70% to statcounter and 30 % to analytics.
Better to use both for tracking your visitors.
or if you would like to go for paid service.
    than try
    trackyourvisitor.com

Cool. Thanks. I checked this out. I will signup 1 site and see how it goes. They have a tag cloud tool as well :)

I have added some sites to Statcounter now. Google analytics does not seem to have all those features. Some SEO experts speak very highly about G analytics and mention it in their ebooks/ books.
