Wondering where to upload files to for a subdomain on a VPS

    Well no this does not explain your situation at all.

    Basically if you make a subdomain then there should be a mount point created for that sub domain as well.

    This location is set by YOU.

    So in my case I run a web hosting company, I allow my users to create the main domain.

    Then each subdomain that is created is made as such

    / == home dir

    /htdocs/ == www accesible for main domain.
    /cgi-bin/ == www scripts
    /logs/ == weblogs
    /backups/ == nightly backups

    They create a subdomain called test so now i have:

    /htdocs/ /cgi-bin/ logs/ backups/ /test/

    Under test I have:

    /htdocs/
    /cgi-bin/

    The files belong in /test/htdocs/ if they are going to be public www files for that domain.

    Does this make sense?

    makes perfect sense but im not sure if my vps operates in that same fashion

    yeah i just checked and my vps doesnt offer me a choice of where the new directory is. or else this thread wouldnt be open. i honestly have no clue where i am supposed to upload my files too.
