    Hi there,

I have just bought traffic from someone aswell as many other people did and this guy turned out to be a scammer (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=731944&page=3).

So what can we do about this?

Well simply file for a reverse payment :)

Yeah but even if he did give you the traffic you could have done the same thing... cos there is nothing he can do to prove he actually gave u that traffic... thats why PayPal is considered seller unfriendly because sellers can get screwed in more than one way... so unless the seller is mailing you something (like a product or something) then he has no actual proof he did give you what u bought...

    I agree.

I'm hoping with my verified account, years of making transations on paypal and all the other people that will be filing for reverse payments with this user that the people at paypal will use a bit of nouse and see that he is a scammer. :)

Hi all folks in Digital Point!

Couple of years ago, I did PayPal account to my (ex)friend.
He is known as "TheFirst" in here.
I accidentially put my name to that PayPal account.
Because it is unverified, it doesn't matter.
He just needed to complete one payment with it.

He told me, he had scammed few users in DigatalPoint.
I went to PayPal's website, and tried to log in with his account. (Yes, I know his pasword)
So I could have give you your money back.
    But, the account was closed.

All I want to say is, that the name in the PayPal account is my name.
    Not this scammer's.
I told this in case someone of my friends/ or so.. got scammed. That they don't think I am a scammer.

I try to get your money back. But I can't guarantee anything.

I'm sorry, if you got scammed.

I guess you can file a dispute only if you pay through Credit Card..

    MonkWithNoName = TheFirst?

Seems a bit obvious, they both type very similar if you compare two sets of their text.
Also a bit fishy that they shared a paypal and both posted here and are both new to DP?

Sounds like the guy used his legitimate paypal account and doesn't want his real name etc exposed.

Nice tutorial for the inexperienced. Perhaps ask a mod to move and stick it in the payment processing forums.

Really suprising how MonkWithNoname just joined a few days back when the scamming had begun and also has only two posts . .One above and one on the other thread.

Agree with you Powelly . Seems not a bit but very obvious

most likely paypal will not honor the reverses if the items are not tangible.

If you (as a seller) get paid with a stolen credit card, then PayPal won't care much about you, they will issue a forced chargeback... happened to me...

They can't do much themselves either cos they are pressed by the card issuers like MasterCard or Visa who demand a chargeback from PayPal... and so on...

PS: I'm not talking about products which get mailed... just about virtual products that only exist online (like traffic buying)

I would be interested and seeing how it turns out. I think they will freeze the account but they might have taken all the money out already.
