Hey guys, So i've been playing with the idea of writing E-Books.. but have no idea as to where to start with regards to programs to use... Any suggestions will be well appreciated

You can download OpenOffice. It's similar to Microsoft office, but it's free. I use OpenOffice writer to write ebooks. It can even convert them into pdf and encrypt the pdf as you wish. - Pranav
Oh nice, also.. when you have finally written the ebook.. what sorta system do you use to distribute them?
Before you worry about that you should write the actual ebook. Trust me it takes time and isn't all that easy
Write it in MS word. Then download a program called cute pdf writer. It installs like a virtual printer on your pc. File > Print > select cute pdf as your printer > hit ok > and it will ask you where you want to save it and what you want to name it. And now you have a PDF, plus you have the word doc that you can always go back and edit and re save as a pdf.
I agree with the post above OpenOffice is the best tool for creating pdf ebooks. It's free and it always creates clickable links in the pdf when some other tools don't. Andrew WebHostingPad coupon
i do the same. I work in MS WORD, then after installed a printer, it transforms it into a pdf file. Then with fox pdf editor you can easily make some adjustments!
I use paypal (for the payment processing) and payloadz.com (for the downloading). It's pretty convenient... you just copy a little snippet of text to your pages... so they should a paypal button... when someone clicks that button, paypal collects the payment and then passes them to a payloadz page where they click a link to download your ebook.
You can use clickbank and create an affiliate program so that affiliates can sell your ebook for a commission.
I don't understand the deal with PDFs, they are so annoying to use! Besides making them, is there another way to view them without using adobe's crap? I didn't think OpenOffice did but maybe it does...

I'm a newbie here so I am a little uncomfortable posting a clickable URL... but if you look at fasteasyincorporationkits dot com and click on one of the state pages, you can view the source. Perhaps obviously, what you're looking for is the payloadz script. To give a bit of pricing info, payloadz sort of charges you 2.5%... but because of the way the formula works, you're always paying more than that.... (somewhere between 2.5% and 5%) then, of course, you give up a chunk to paypal, too. so the numbers can add up. I would guess that at some level it would make sense to host the thing on your own server. That's way beyond my technical skills though...
