Using Only Adsense..Why Do we continue to Leave money on the Table!

I came to a realization that no matter how many how to make money from blogs or website articles we as webmasters read...we still continue to leave money on the table by only implementing Adsense on our sites, which could really generate a substantial amount of money if we played around and tried to configure more complex, but more profitable advertising mediums.

I think that is definitely part of the success of google adsense is its simplicity and ease of integration and that is why we continue to slap them up on every fly by night idea that we produce onto the web.

I recently sold a site for over $20,000 it was a fashion line fan site and after selling I really felt stupid, because the only revenue stream I had was adsense...and I implemented amazon a few weeks before selling and seen the potential. The new owner has more affiliate based ads that I am sure is generating more money then my $3-4,000 per month....all because I treated it like a second hand site and not really putting any thought into the revenue stream.

I could of possibly sold it for double that if I put my eggs in more than googles basket.

    Just a thought.

How many of you only have google on your main sites or second hand sites for that matter and what do you plan to do about it???

I use adsense, adbrite and widgetbucks on all my sites, adsense being the primary earner. Currently adsense(Around $1000) is generating twice as much revenue as adbrite($400-$500) probably because adsense occupies prime spots.

I'm trying hard to diversify, but nothing else is earning the same eCPM as AdSense. Anyone having great luck with anything?

    Ouch... you live and learn...

Don't replace AdSense... just use other programs for more revenue.

You most likely won't be making money instantly.... give it time.

I've been trying to get approved by ValueClickMedia and they simply will not approve any of my sites!! I don't get it what's wrong. I've seen lots of other similar/ entertainment sites that run their fastclick ads which are the ads I want to run as well (e.g the fart button, mouse pointers/ icons etc.).

What other CPM program is there? I've been looking for one for ages but couldn't find any.

Yeah I was approved for value click media for my main site (http://www.dobizo.com) but didn't get approved for one of my other sites (www.pastryshoescollection.com) I know for a fact you must have a privacy policy page to be approved for value click which I took down after seeing their ads not convert well ...at all. I think I might use them in the future since I added a social/business network aspect to my website. I try to stick with sponsor/private ads, affiliate ads, and google...a good mix..amazon pays next to nothing for what you refer..so I scratched them from my mix.

I'm going to try CJ (commission junction) and Performics...anyone used either of them?

And you are violating google policy. Well, that's your choice. Good luck to you.

    FashionNetwork.

You raise a good point. I see so many webmasters just focus on Google Adsense. If your site is making 4-5k a month from Adsense it means that you could probably be making double or triple that if you joined other ad networks. In the end it all goes back to one simple point.

Allot of webmasters (especially those I see on DP) never get out of the well traveled way on the Internet. They stick to what everyone else is doing and not interested in trying new ideas.

Exactly...most are afraid to experiment with the unknown therefore they settle for mediocre earnings..when they could do better with a little tweaking and experimentation.

Your site is in violation of AdSense's TOS.

FashionNetwork, you are dropping a nuclear bomb here. :) It's a wake-up call.

What I learned is that only a handful of websites in the world are really earning through Google Adsense. People don't go to your website in order to click ads unless the ad really catches their attention.

I use adsense for real estate and medical websites but entertainment ones I run I am looking to diversify even more because I am averaging around 8 cents a click with those ones.

Probably any site of yours that doesn't have a Privacy Policy page.
So which company would you recommend for CPM ads?

You sold a site making $3000-$4000/mo. for $20,000? Got another one for sale? I'll take it!
