Do not SEO your website

    I came across an interesting article today. Best part I liked on the article is "Search engine optimization can make or break a business. More than a few businesses have been made and lost fortunes based on their search engine rankings."

    After reading the article I realized it is kind of true. Lets say you start a online business, and your business depends heavily on SE traffic. You are probably happy since money is flowing. You hire more people, new big office etc etc. Then there comes the bad time; you loose your SE rankings. Why? May happen for many reasons(use your imagination). What you do now?

    I am sorry I didn't mean to hurt your SEO business.
    You didn't get the point actually. Point was discussing how you take care of problems like this. Any points from you?

    Make sure you have content and have reasons why people will come back. That's the main problem with tons of websites, they don't stick out and give visitors a reason to return.

    If you are experiencing success, take advantage of it and work on getting loyal visitors.

    If you've lost your SE rankings and don't have traffic then the only answer is advertising, social media sites, getting repeat visits, fans and requesting re inclusion ;)

    I guess search engine optimization can ruin a business if a business focuses solely on SEO and not on giving visitors a reason to return.

    IMO

    SEO is NOT a one time thing, its a continous practice.

    if you don't try to cheat the search engines, i think there is nothing that will hurt you.

    and lets assume you lose your ranking (for whatever reason), you always have alternatives, such as AdWords advertising.

    We live in present and work day and night for it to make it worthy we work for today to make our future fruitful. So, we have to make our mind concentrate on present as which is in our hand and in control then why to worry about future.

    That's an interesting point...true to some extent.
    I guess it's important to rely on other forms of traffic other than just SEO.

    Don't relay on S.E traffic, further when you hire people don't give them full / publishing access to your web, monitor them and do proper analysis. and when your S.E traffic goes down you may continue via banner advertisement or PPC etc..

    There is only one top position and if you stop working for it someone else will get it. So you can't blame anyone other than yourself for loosing your rankings.

    First thing is that the loosing of search engine rank is only becuase of following reasons
    1) Definitely you seo had use some black hat tricks unless it can't be possible
    2) You have changed your site ip and shifted to new domain but forget to redirect it.

    Now listen search engines are not the only source to earn but there are hundreds of way where you can earn and bring traffic to your business.

    Foreg.
    1) Online auction sites
    2) Google Adwords
    3) Social Networking sites
    4) Product comparison site (but be aware of cheaters)
    5) Contribution in different forums
    6) Affiliate sites ( But here also be aware of cheaters)
    7) Online advertisement such as banner ads, pop ups,
    8) Email marketing

    And there are other 25 ways which i dont want to disclose here.

    The best way is to do all your SEO and not hire outsourcing, this will not only save you a lot of money but will also guarantee that your website stays active in SEO.

    To answer the question in the first post, you can either:
    1) See why your search engine rankings disappeared and try to bring your site to the top again;
    2) Since the site has proven to be a profitable business model, you can start looking for alternative traffic sources like PPC. You will not have that much profit, but you will still get profit, so that's good;
    3) Move on and build another business;
    4) All of the above.
    Good luck.
