i was wondering if Google accepts a "sitemap of sitemaps". basically, there's too many pages on a site to include everything in one sitemap. so we split the sitemap into 10+ different sitemaps with a main sitemap pointing to each one of the smaller sitemaps. will google accept this? do i have to submit each sitemap by itself or can i just submit the master sitemap?
I didn't know there was a limit for how many pages can be present in a sitemap. Also, in Google Webmaster Tools you can specify more than just 1 sitemap. So you could add 1 sitemap for every section of your site
There is limit. You can put those urls on multiple sitemaps, and put the urls of other sitemaps to the main sitemap. You only submit the main sitemap to Google.
Yes definitely you can submit mutilple sitemaps if your limits goes beyond the instruction. There is no doubt but dont forget to submit the master sitemap url to the google.
