Will Google penalize you if...

A few of my sites are listed on a paid text links page, but I did NOT pay for these links.

I have emailed the owner several times asking him to take my sites off of his page, but he hasn't responded and continues to ignore me.

Will Google penalize my sites that are listed? If so, is there a measure I can take to prevent this from happening? Thanks in advance for any useful info

block the referral ( the site with the text links ) from the .htaccess .

In that way when google crawls the "text links site" and try to follow the link to your site it will get header 403. It will now that you don't want your site to be followed from the "text links site"

Thanks for the responses. A DP member offered free links on his website in the freebies section but didn't reveal the site he was putting it on.

After he got a few people to respond to his thread, he posted the links on his site, and then revealed his url and what kind of site it was. Here's the url:

I think you cant control other people from putting your site link on their sites, can you?

If google penalize for such things, then people will start putting their competitors link on such sites so that Google penalize them

I'd just ignore it until there is a problem, and then you can explain in an inclusion request if you have to

I don't think so unless someone explicitly sabotage you by making a report in the Google Paid Links form.

That's probably the most proactive thing you could do.

Otherwise, Google would likely minimize any benefit from those particular backlinks, if Google determines that it's actually a paid link.

That seemed to be a bit excessive, it would not be possible to track all such linkings, for me I will just ignore it.

    Agreed.

Unless you are actually penalized by Google, which is doubtful, it's not worth worrying about it. Like I mentioned above, Google would probably just discount any links from that page.

A million links? Like a link cloud or directory with many links on the page, virtually no value is passed along, if any at all.

that's why Google will have problems for penalizing sites that show up on bought text link pages. all bad webmasters have to do is create a page that acts like it's selling text links and when google finds that site and penalizes it and all sites listed on it the webmaster can just add his competition onto that page so they can get hit with a penalty also.

You should be alright. Just don't report it to google unless they penalize you, or it could turn out bad for you!
