Just research, read forums, read ebooks everything! The internet is full of information as you know and much of it which is just the same information over and over again. Read blogs and websites then if you have a question or are curious to something ask it on here.

For now have a look at this website:

You are right...there are hundreds of sources.

But ebooks are crap. They fail to SHOW you exactly what to do...even with illustrations.

The best way to go about affiliate marketing is to replicate the efforts of those who are successful. Hell...replicate the way they build sites, the way they do email marketing...everything. I'm not saying copy, but replicate the methods.

you're in the right place, read digital point forums, i've learnt so much here in a month, than i've ever learnt by myself! there must be hundreds of threads saying "how do i get traffic to my site" but for some reason DPers never get bored of answering them! although one should search before asking! ;)

digital point is really my secret to online success :D

You can read forums and try to put it together on your own, but if you want something structured, I can't recommend Wealthy Affiliate highly enough. I'm a member of Wealthy Affiliate and I wouldn't want to attempt affiliate marketing without it. If that was the case, I wouldn't have made the progress that I have made.

You could try keeping an eye on the membership site called affilorama.com; it has been (or is being) revamped but even in its previous guise taught me as a newbie, probably more than any other source.

Well Paul, as you can see you are getting numerous different answers even in this thread, so it is likely to be just as confusing. There really isn't a concensus on what is the "best" way. I would just say to stick with something reputable that you know many people have had success with. If someone recommends a program to you and you ask around and nobody else has heard of it or it's hard to find info on it, I would pass. Like many have mentioned here, there are free resources available. Those could be good to start with just to get your feet wet and begin understanding what affiliate marketing is all about. Another free site that I could recommend would be travis sago's www.bummarketingmethod.com. The whole point of his site is to learn how to make money online without having to spend any money to do so. He exclusively teaches free methods of marketing.

    Good luck in your search!
