I think yahoo is ranked more based on on-site optimization and not really inbound links

I'm sure content is truly king for yahoo, since it operates more like a portal than anything else.

I've been told that if you pay the $300 for Yahoo directory. IF approved, it's gonna boost your search results (at least for Yahoo!) I don't do that, so I can't prove it yet.

Don't forget that domain age is also important.

Anyway, i disagree with "quality content". Many crap sites without "quality content" get the first rank for fairly competitive keywords.

Not true at all, ive got 2 links from their directory (gave me 2 links by mistake result or what !) and it made very little difference what so ever, in fact the 2 links are virtually worthless !

Domain matters a lot in case of yahoo and Google simply ignores this. The biggest difference b/w these two.

Keywords in the domain name matters in case of yahoo.
Yahoo gives importance for the content on the page more than google. It doesn't have to be quality content, but if it is more relevant to the searched term, yahoo gives some boosting.

Yes. They use different algo. Google gives very high importance to one way links from high quality relevant sites. While sucess with yahoo is mixture of onpage and off-page optimization. Forget about optimizing for yahoo if your site is doing well in google. You will get way less traffic from yahoo search engine compared to google.

Any evidence of age making a difference with Yahoo ??

I ask, as 2 of my sites, one of which is a year old, and the other is about 5 years old, both rank of Yahoo, but the newer of the two has much better rankings. ( Both sites are related to the same industry, each have unique content, and a good link structure and backlinks ).
