My site was predicted PR6 but just updated to PR2

My arcade was a PR3 and I started doing some link building in November. Google Webmaster Tools says my site now has over 17,000 backlinks. Many are PR3 and PR4 and some are PR5+.

iWebTool.com has said for a while that it is predicted to be a PR6. Last week their PR Checker tool said that 8 of Googles datacenters had me as a PR7. And a bunch of the datacenters were down so it could have been more. Then on Wednesday it went to PR2 and the datacenters all said PR2 also. Then mid day it was back to PR3 and then back to PR3 a few hours later.

My other arcade was Predicted PR5 and just went from PR3 to PR2 the same day. Have I been penalized? Or could this be because I just moved those 2 sites to a new host 2 weeks ago?

The site is the "Fun Games" link in my sig.

I never really relied on PR prediction tools. None have proven me right.

yep. PR prediction tools are not accurate, besides, if you're relying on iwebtool, most data centers have a bug because most sites are showing PR7

PR prediction tool is just a bunch of crap. It is not accurate since it doesn't follow what the Google's PR algorithm is about. It is just on the backlinks of the site.

    Why rely on it?

So your link building was all on-topic or general sites with good PR? One of mine was predicted PR5 but went from PR4 to PR3 :( I'm not sure if it was due to having someone use software to submit to directories. Google could always change their algorithm next time.

The weirdest part was that so many of the Google Datacenters had me as a much higher PR. Why would they shift so much on less than a week?

I'd not recommend to pay much attention to what PR is showed by different tools. Google never shows your real PR, the one you see on goggle tool bar is rather obsolete and rough.

This prediction will not be correct. If you dont work properly or others work more than you prediction will be false

There are some tools that can predict your site PR but do not rely too much on thier result. Some of them are not accurate. Try to ues searchstatus. It's more accurate than PR predicting tool.

Hey, my PR for my blog went from a 2 to unrated! That's pretty bad.

And on the last update I had only about 2-3k backlinks. Could this be due to my host switch? I almost feel like contacting them.

I think it's pretty clear that there was yet another Googlequake last week. I watched as multiple sites went from PR in the neighborhood of 4 down to zero and a few that went from the neighborhood of a 2 up to an 8, and then the various tools I use for monitoring PR showed multiple sites down, not responding, or responding with some really bizarre results.

Luckily I'm of the common opinion that PR doesn't really matter that much, so I didn't lose any sleep over it, but I do watch it, along with other metrics, just to keep an eye on what is going on with my various sites.

By Friday everything was more or less back to the way it was before.

To me it looked like yet another botched change at Google, followed by an overcorrection to that change that threw everything out of kilter for a few days until things sync'ed up again.
