That is because PR does not relate to higher traffic. Think of PR as Google's wierd way of grading your site, and not Google's way of promoting it.

Actually the higher the PR, the higher the traffic. The more PR you have on your main page, and each internal page, the deeper Google crawls. The deeper Google crawls, the more pages of your site are indexed. The more pages you have indexed, your site will show up more frequently in Google. The more pages in Google, the higher the traffic likely-hood. The key however is realizing that it is not just PR, but how well your site is promoted and ranked. The more pages ranked, the higher the traffic. It's all interrelated. No, PR is not the save all ingredient in higher traffic, but it is one of the main ingredients needed to secure higher traffic.

PR5 on a website's index, is enough for GoogleBot to spider 4 milion internal pages.

Just as a fact Mia :)

Re-affirming that PR is more than just a "weird way of grading your site." ;)

    Strange,

As many PR updates as my sites have been through, I have yet to see them climb higher in SERPS as a result of the PR. The only things that help my sites in SERPs is backlinks and content.

maybe my sites just have bad luck.

Well, again, it is not "just" PR, but a combination of all of the above.

My blog went to a PR 5, and it is sticking, but that is the only site I've seen which has got any ranking. Another site got PR, but it wasn't on the homepage...........

Google is acting very uncanny with this latest update. I guess I can be happy non of my sites have lost any pr, at least so far.

Its probably closer to call PR your potential to rank and get pages indexed. the higher your pr, the greater your potential to get more pages indexed and get higher rankings, but its certainly no guarantee.

How about we all put our cards on the table collectively and unitedly agree that we would have better luck picking up toothpicks with our butt cheeks than trying to ascertain how Google ranks our sites;) ?

For the PageRank fanatics, I just posted over in Sitemaps that one might be able to obtain some insight into future page rank for the rare corner cases where a sub-page will have a higher PR than the main page.

Where do you extract these figures from my friend? If it is from a reliable source, how about enlightening us with some more figures? Such as, how many pages will the Googlebot spider for other PR's?;)
