I watched the following "Increase Your Visibility To Advertisers" "Webinar" web seminar from Google, they claim that the 300 x 250 Medium Rectangle is the best performing ad format with the highest inventory of premium advertisers. I had found that the 336 x 280 Large Rectangle was performing well, but have just now switched to the 300 x 250 Medium Rectangle to see if it does indeed perform better. I also took the advice of the "Taking It to the Next Level" "webinar" and I better utilized the ad-targeting for advertisers feature by having a better description of the ad as demonstrated in the "webinar". They said one website doubled their Adsense revenue after implementing this "ad-targeting" for advertisers feature. So I will keep you posted on my findings. I would also like to hear other web publishers advice and experiences regarding these issues. If you want to watch these Adsense Seminars just go to the following...... https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=22045&sourceid=aso&subid=ww-ww-et-resourcestab&medium=link and then click on any of these...... I voted 336x280 Quite awhile ago I contacted google and told them to disable advertisers ability to advertise directly on my pages (mainly CPM) it was performing horribly with some pubs giving me less then .40 per CPM. Maybe I should give it another shot and enable it again? I think google recommended the 300x250 because it also shows image/video ads, and that is something they are really trying to push out there.
I have to go with the 300x250. I've gotten the most clicks on that size and the size makes it very easy to blend with text around it, and people like choices. Big ad formats give them that. these also work good: 336x280 120x600 728x90
Thanks for the information FanAddict, will be helpful with my next site. And I don't know if it's the best but I believe 468x60 is the most commonly used ad type.
I also found 300x250 to be the best also. Now I read someware I didn't remember were, that if you put less ads on you site (you can use up to 3) that you get alittle higher price on your clicks, because less ads more quality I don't know if it is true, but I am going to give it a try on one of my websites... keep at it
I am surprised at the poll results so far. My revenue has gone up sharply since switching from 336x280 to 300x250. It looks like the Adsense webinar was right.
it depends on your website design. I have used all of them in many different design and all of them are ok. But the best one you can use for every design is 336x280
I'm still in the process of trying many different ads sizes, I get some funny results, everytime I change to a different size, color or shape it seems to give a boost in clicks, then after a week or two it drops to "normal" again. So I think my strategy is to change every two weeks.
Yes, I have had good results with the medium rectangle, but not spectacular. I am now switching back to the Large Rectange to see how it performs in comparison after two weeks....
I always get a good click on the 336x280 size for my adsense. Not sure why but I don't blend it with the background color anymore. Since I make the ads look like an "ads", got more clicks than before.
I love the formats 336 x 280 and 300 x 250 i.e. Large and medium rectangles. They are the best performers for me
