How much margin does Google take on Adsense

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by Teddyd, Mar 1, 2006.

I'm thinking to switch to Adsense but I'm worried about the money Google will keep.

    - Do we know how much they give to the site publisher? 60% 70%? (of the net cost charged to the advertisers).

Can someone also tell me if I should use their "advertise on this site" option? I'd rather try to establish a direct relationship with the advertisers myself with my own "advertise here" program with Paypal payment.

    Thanks,
    Ted

No one knows exactly... there is an approximate figure around though... and i say the advertise here will pay you much less than ppc.

What on earth are you trying to say? I know your English might not be that great, but I didn't understand a word of that -- sorry. Maybe try to reword that?

If the question is "How much they take from the money used for advertising?", then the answer is %75 to you %25 to google.

Do you work for Google and can verify this or how did you come up with these numbers?

Doesn't the whole concept of Smart Pricing mean that it isn't a set percentage? It could be a sliding scale or have conversion and quality factors on the traffic that weight the percentage one way or another. I don't think it is a set percentage.

I'm not sure they'd tell people this figure.

It is easy to test. Advertise for a non searched word and ask for your friend to click it. Look at the earning and you will see the % google takes by some math.

To a point. No one has been able to verify the amount. It is a best guess at most right now and they will never disclose this amount.

I find this quite offensive and I think my english was good enough for someone who speaks it fluently. I'll be more accurate though:

    His questions:
"Do we know how much they give to the site publisher? 60% 70%? (of the net cost charged to the advertisers).
    "

"Can someone also tell me if I should use their "advertise on this site" option? "

    My reply to his questions:
"No one knows exactly (what is the percent google keeps)... there is an approximate figure around though (i have seen some peolpe say something around 23% for google)... and i say (in my opinion) the "advertise here" (feature) will pay you much less than ppc (price per click)"

Before telling me my english is not good enough see if you can have some coffee and read something more carefully after reading the first post again. Anyway....

It wasn't meant to offensive, but I was trying to understand what you were trying to say, and I couldn't understand any of it. Thank you for making yourself clear.

If you weren't trying to be offensive there was no need to question my english skills...

    This was totally unnecessary:

"What on earth are you trying to say? I know your English might not be that great"

    Back on topic anyway.

margins are getting slimmer as Yahoo! enters the arena. i bet you yahoo is even taking a loss right now and paying out more than they get in ad revenue to attract current adsense publishers.

One good reason that Google has not to disclose their payout percentages is that they can manipulate it at will and nobody would no any better. For instant, right now GOOG is coming under fire for slower than expected earnings growth, well if they increase their AdSense percentage slightly they could increase earnings by a good amount.

Not necessarily an ethical thing to do, but it does give Google some legroom as far as quarterly earnings.

Wasn't there an article or something on Digital Point and Shawn where the reporter quoted a figure? I think the 75/25 was bandied about.

And adsense started for Turkey around 1.2 years ago. In their homepage they wrote the % as 75 - 25.(They removed it after a week or so.) I know this from here but if you want to test you can.

And then I guess they would have different figures for being smart priced aswell.

Well personally I tend not to worry about things like this and just keep moving forward in the right direction with my sites and my programs.

Nothing beats quality. And secondly, there is never enough quality content.

So just keep building and let google worry about their stats, and keep cashing the cheques.
