Which forum scripts that you are prefer?

    If you want to open/manage a new forum...what forum scripts/application that you prefer to use...phpbb,VB,IPB..etc..??

    there are many threads already asking the question.

    mine is VB (vbulletin) and my guess is that will be the overall winner also.

    Start out with a free one untill you get it going and then switch to something better like vbulletin.

    Also work with other forum owners to get post's in yours.

    I think you should get vBulletin, phpbb is okay for a start off but your choice!!

    i think i start with the free one first like SMF or PhpBB...later after my forum growing then i change to vb...

    Yeh i think you should do that, i dont like smf forums they look crummy, i like phpbb a lot better tho! vBulletin will make more members go to your site though!

    I would choose either Vbulletin either Invision. No other forum does the job for me.

    Troughout my experience, i tried about 20. About 13-14 other forums, got hacked at least once (up-to-date versions), including the Phpbb for Webxperience.

    SMF is the best free software, in my opinion, but be careful, because if you start with SMF and then move to vB later down the road - you will lose all passwords and your members will have to reset their passwords. As of now, there's no way around this, and yes, it does suck ;)

    It would be good to go ahead and get vB if you plan on using it on down the road anyways, but on the same note, it's not always a good idea to invest that much into your forums if you haven't "tested the waters" first

    Would you belive that SMF are the initials for a REALLY bad word in romanian ? :D

    Anyway, that's why i never used it myself :D

    I'm jinxed at stuff like that.
