Okay. Thanks, Annie - I was under the impression that this was an "open" internal discussion among editors and Admins at DMOZ. That clarifies the situation for me.

Actually, would you? It will help to pass the time until the Admins blow the blue smoke through the DMOZ chimney... :D

I again shows that you don't read the postings from editors if you don't like them or like what they are saying.

As has been stated before (these are just the last 2 samples)
How did you ever come to the impressions that it was a discussion between admins and other editors?
You blame me for not having English as my first language. But what is your excuse?

    Go away, pagode.

The fact that the Admins "are discussing it" does not necessarily imply that they are not doing this at least partly with input from editors. That is the part I was trying to clarify and that is why I asked "what are they debating?".

Annie has answered the question for me. You have nothing to add here. Kindly move along and go back to doing whatever it is that you do.

Poor, little editors. God forbid that one day, they actually start thinking and have a saying on how the organization they "volunteer" for should be run.
The only proper role for editors is to go to different forums and give people, DMOZ standard canned response and get a couple of their own listing in return. ;)

It is OK, in the mean time can you at least tell us IN YOUR OPINION, how is easy it is to get 10 editor account in DMOZ?

    minstrel;

Be kind to pagode, initially he made a bigger noise about this than Annie but I think (edit: Think=In my opinion=Freedom of speech) they have promised him a Meta position, so he is back. At least he doesn't sell himself cheap like imocr and just be happy to stay as editor. :D

What slander, it was a compliment that you were one of the editors who were more active to remove the pedophile listings from DMOZ. That is the reason that your change of attitude is very surprising.

I don't talk trash about you. I have the highest respect for you since you have made your position clear that you don't care and it is not important for you. My problem is with people who say that they care but won't do anything about it.

gworld : I think you should stop posting in this thread. Repeating samething again and again is not a good practice also I don't think we should be arguing with fellow forum members. This discussion has reach beyond the limit, some forum members are now getting ready for a court case :D

Need not to be worried lmocr, gworld has his mind set up already about DMOZ. Unlike minstrel, though he dislikes DMOZ he gives respect. It is very hard to enter a data to a thick skull with a brain size of a pea. He is an Angel with an Angelic genetics and genitals that dislikes the human race and talks about adult porn while promoting it himself, Nice. ;)

DO you think anyone volunteering for a large organization get a say in how it is ran? Do candy stripers have a say in how the hospital is run? Does the guy ringing the bell in front of a store have a say in how The Salvation Army is run? Hell, even people that work for a company usually have little or no say in anything - do you think Wal Mart workes get any say in how the store is run?

Your comment makes no sense on any level...

What are you doing about it?

    Are you still here?

I think what gworld is doing is keeping the heat on. I'm sure that displeases the Adult editors immensely - if gworld and others would just shut up, maybe everyone else would forget about the whole thing and they could go back to business as usual, promoting sexual assault and pedophilia for fun and profit

Well - I read the complete thread and have no position I wish to share in public other than:

    1. If a DP member normally came and posted porn [of any kind] in the threads of DP - would this normally be allowed in public?

    2. Live links to porn sites in DP... is this advisable?

    3. I didn't really want to post - as everytime someone does it places "child porn" phrase on the mainpage of DP - and I highly doubt "everyone that lurks here" knows what a DMOZ is. [most moms & pops attempting to figure what a meta tag is - likely doesn't know what DMOZ is - all they see in the phrase on the mainpage].

    4. Personally - "all good intentions" aside - I truly believe your advocation is mis-directed.

    IMHO

With all due respect, the alternative methods, including silence and ignorance, haven't worked very well to rid these sites from DMOZ, have they? I don't know how much this thread will actually accomplish but it's better than nothing and it has had some impact already.

So may I suggest that if you think it's a pointless waste of time you either come up with a better method for accomplishing the goals or just go somewhere else where the issues will be less troubling to you?

My last post on the matter.

I don't believe the thread is particularly useful to DP users.

I don't believe the thread is particularly useful for developing new DP members.

I don't believe live links in the thread is particularly useful for anyone other than making it more difficult for personnel in legal professionals to determine valid visitors of said sites - or are there for merely a DP look see.

I don't believe the appearance of "child porn" on the mainpage is particularly useful to DP interests in SEO, web promotion, or directories.

As I understand - earlier in the thread FBI was involved - and they gave specific guidance... I would think they will do their job - and members here continue to see "what the hub bub is about" and may wish to be interviewed to explain why they visited said sites - well ok.

I just think - leaving it to the professionals is a better course. But maybe I am wrong.

Your right minstrel it has made an impact and I agree with you. But you are looking for radical changes which would not occur overnight. I don't know about the other eds but I am not an avid fan of child porn.

I think that's for the best, really.

I think you may have forgotten which forum you're in. You're pretty much a newcomer here and definitely not a moderator.

I also have to ask: Are you really concerned about DP members? Or are you concerned about the negative publicity for DMOZ?

If you indeed read the thread, I think you'll find that your fellow editors repeatedly demanded said links  I think that's because initially some of them thought gworld was making it all up.

And the publicity is not welcomed by DMOZ Adult editors either... is that your next aspiration?

The more I read your posts, fathom, the more I am impressed by the naivete they reveal... and that leads me again to wonder of you are the fathom I knew previously... and if so, what happened to you? Did good sense get overtaken by ambition?

or perhaps you're just being disingenuous...

Am I the only one who feels terribly disappointed that this thread is going so far off topic? :(

IMO we were getting somewhere, working together to target a serious problem and we were making some progress with it.

Why is this turning into silly bickering and mud slinging among forum members? Does this mean that anyone who focuses on other posters rather than the topic at hand is pro-child rape? I certainly hope not. :(

Let's put aside our differences and keep our focus on the topic, for the children.
