1 - is setting goals good or bad step to do to make a succesfull site ?

2 - i was thinking to market a site about 9/11 site using video market..
i know its kind of bad subject, but i was going to market videos talking about it
and not show anything that can be a littel over the edge for some poeple..

my question is : is that good to do ?

I agree with angilina, but make them easily achievable at first, otherwise you will give up the first time you don't meet one.

How are you going to monitize it and who is your audience?

Is this a political blog, a charity site, a conspiracy theory site, in rememberance of, or millitary site?

You can set goals all you want, but if you don't have an end purpose in site then it's really not worth getting started.

Is your second question asking how "tastful" it would be to do this? If so then go back to the who is your audience question.

Your goals should be project management/task based.. like, "I'll complete the X section of the website by X/X/2008", rather than "I'll get at least 200 hits per day by X/X/2008".

Personally I wouldn't want to market that particular subject.

It really isn't a bad subject, it's just that it is an old subject most people want to move away from.

Now why would you ask if it is bad or not for setting goals???

    Of course it is good.

That's why you should have small goals.

Example: First small goal is to get at least 1,000 daily hits in a month's time.

Next small goal is to double that in another month's time.

Too many people write down goals that may seem too big to them, too unrealistic, even though it isn't.

A lot of the times that is why so many give up, and they go back to their day job.

But if they did small ones, one at atime, they can be more successful in the end.

"Yeah, I can get 1,000 daily visitors within a month."

    That's more realistic.

If they don't think it is, then they can do 500.

Do small goals, accomplishing one before moving on to another.
