    Hey,

I own Naruto Pictures, I'm trying to get a good ranking for the search term "Naruto Pictures". We've been open since the start of January and we've got over 1,000 backlinks. I've done lots of work but we just can't seem to get into the top 7, we're stuck at 8th/9th most of the time. I really don't know what else to do. Could I please get some advice? Thank you!

You need more backlinks. 1,000 isn't that many. Try making your site more SEO friendly, and use the keyword you want to achieve a higher rank with as your anchor text on backlinks!

Agreed, you need to start a link building campaign, start submitting your website to web directories with high PR & traffic.

I've done both of those things, plus my partner made a very similar site a couple of months ago (http://narutopictures.org) and he got up to 4th for the same search term in a couple of weeks just through putting a link on his forum and in his signature. I've done much more work than that and it's just not happening.

Seeing as though your site is a little under 2 months old, and you are already on the first page of Google for your search terms, then I would say just keep doing what you have done so far.

Doing a quick check on various local Googles, you are in 5th place in Google.co.uk, 7th place in Google.ca, and 6th place in Google.de

Getting a good position in the SERPs is one thing - maintaining it over time is another. Continue to build good, relevant backlinks, add unique content to your site and you should see improvements over the coming months.

    Well done.

Thank you but I don't see why the last time me and my partner made a site basically the same as this it got ranked 4th in under one month with much less work put into it.

What do you mean build good, relevant unique content?

OK, forgive me for being green, but how do you determine the alt text for the link to your site that is on another site? I mean, isn't that up to that website owner to determine what the alt text is?

I've noticed there is often an initial surge in SERPS, and then it drops off to a more stable position... perhaps this is what happened before?

I assume you've used your titles in the anchor text of your links?

To improve your rankings, you can add in more content and introduce a H3 tag to contain your keyword :) To supplement your effort, you can link back to your home page via the anchor, 'Naruto Pictures'.

You need to wait and build backlinks, convert 1000 to 2000 and so on.....

you need more quality links, work on adding more pictures and content to your site first...then create and distribute some myspace profiles and include a link to the bottom to your site...try and put out a new one every week.....this will help you build links without having to go out and earn each and every link your site has...

and like KC tan says, your on site SEO needs some work...

I've done almost everything that's been said, my partner made http://narutopictures.org and hardly did any work on it and it ranked 4th, why aren't we going up when we've done 10x more work?

Do you think a link (sitewide) in the footer of http://www.talknaruto.com would help at all?
