I lift weights for about 90 minutes, twice a week, and I wish I had the time to do more. I don't run as much as I would like to. I love to run too.

I like the stigma that comes with being a "weightlifter chick". ;)

It's been my experience that it's not easy to get big. And I'm not trying to get big. I don't want to look like Grim. ;) I just want hard, strong muscles. Not big ones. :D

    Especially for woman ;)
Even guys need to eat correctly and lift the right way in order to 'get big'

Believe it or not I do not lift for size! If I did I'd be much bigger, I lift in the middle for the most part.

I would say the vast majority of girls I know feel the same way about lifting. They don't want to get bulky, so they just do spinning or run on the treadmill. They might run with those little pink dumbbells. I've seen a few girls curling those little dumbbells, and they indicated that they were doing high reps of these little 1-3 lb. weights to "tone" their muscles. I hope they aren't getting advice from a pro, because all they are doing is wasting a lot of time. The few girls I know who do serious weight-lifting with real weights all have much better bodies than the girls who just do aerobics and the pink dumbbells. It's a myth that women will get bulky by doing heavy lifting. The female body just isn't made that way. The female bodybuilders in magazines with the bodies that disgust most people have a little secret: steroids and other drugs. The female body just doesn't get that way under normal circumstances. Women would be much better off if gyms would help educate people about heavy lifting and its benefits. Aside from being stronger and having stronger bones (something that should be important to all women over the age of 35), a full body workout with heavy weights (including squats, benchpresses, etc) will give you a better body than just running a couple miles on a treadmill every morning. You'll even be able to eat more without gaining volume as your body stores less fat.

I have lifting weights for over two years. OP, you can ask me anything about bodybuilding (except Steroids of course which I don't use) if you have some questions. Moreover, bodybuilding.com and t-nation.com are both good bodybuilding sites.
