    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

Based on Adsense alone, how much would you sell your site for?

Hey there. I'm thinking of calling it quits and selling my site. So my question is: how do you decide a fair selling price?

My site averages a little more than $2k per month. I was thinking of offering it for $50k (2 years' worth of revenue). Do you think that's fair?

How much does your site make, and how much would you be willing to sell it for?

And my last question is: where's the best place to advertise selling your site?

You could also try to sell your website on eBay.

ebay sounds the easiest. I can set a reserve and watch what people bid on it. That's probably a fair way of figuring out its value

Thanks for the suggestions  It'll probably take me a while to figure this out completely.

I hear about people buying adsense sites, but has anyone out there sold one?

It pretty much depends on a hell lot of factors.

    What are the running costs?
How many hours per day/week do you have to spend on the site?
Do you make any advertising at all?

Easy appraisal - 10x monthly revenue or 15x if it's a zero maintenance website. I doubt you'll be able to get much more than that.

The maximum you can get is 10 times of the site monthly revenue that is 20k$ in your case .

Based on adsense revenue only, there is no way you would get 25x revenue.

25x revenue is a lofty valuation, but could be possible if there were other factors like -

    Authority site.
Long revenue history (big difference between 2 months and 2 years @ $2k a month.)
    Revenue increasing, not declining.

I'm also talking about net income (after all expenses are deducted). You would also want to include a fair-market salary in expenses for the work that is required to maintain the site.

The general rule of thumb is 8x to 18x net revenue. It could be higher or lower depending on the specific site.

Hey bud you cannot possibly get an estimation without giving more info.

Is all the traffic organic (search engines)

What subject matter does your site cover ( Longevity )

Is it full of great content or just an MFA??

Will the income/traffic improve over time?

There are many factors a potential buyer will weigh up before buying. As an example, i have a webkinz site and its hot right now with lots of traffic/revenue but in a years time webkinz might not be the in thing then it'll be worth much less.

Why would you want to sell a website that makes all that cash from adsense only?
That's like my dream site... :/

a site that is 100% adsense dependant, i would say 10x monthly revenue would be a OK price that most investors would like to pay. how much a site sells for depends on the site itself, niche, revenue source, steady traffic, how long it takes to manage the site on a daily basis, how old the site is, PR (even though PR is not an important factor in traffic and revenue, it is important when you sell a site), content, traffic source, and lot of other factors. but if you do decide to sell, list it on DP as well as sitepoint that way you will get cover greater audience

I think 10 x 1 month income = Good price to sell your site.

Anyway, what are the sources of traffic for your site?

Hey thanks everyone for the advice & info. Yeah I should have given more details...

My site is a "weird news" newspaper, which means it covers every subject in the book. The health articles generate the most revenue, so I try to write lots of stuff about "mesothelioma" ;) but it's good content with a lot of research and such.

Daily traffic is ~15k uniques. CTR is between 2-3% And, like I said, I have some high paying keywords on the health articles, that's how I manage to clear $2k/month.

75% of traffic is organic, 25% loyal fans

Trend in traffic/earnings, ~10% growth each month for the past year

The reason why I'm selling... it's a TON OF FREAKIN WORK. I spend 8 hrs/day easily. Writing articles, promoting the site, webmaster crap, I do it all myself

I just want to dump it in someone else's lap and be done with it!

Anyway, thanks for giving me some clear perspective. I'll probably revise my asking price, post it on [I boycott eBay] some auction site and see if there are any bites.
