how many directories to submit to without raisin eyebrows

if i started listing on directories - how many would i need to send out to immediately before the search engines might think its unusuual?

You can submit at least 500 without any problem. But submission should be done in a gradual way. Say- 50 directories per day

 

You should go slow and delayed submission and submit 25 directories daily

 

We have different thoughts on this, i say put no limit on your submissions if...

Your doing them by hand, because even if your mega quick and get lots done in a day, their not all going to be approved in one day.

If you gain 10,000 backlinks in one day, worry, if not then relax.

 

You can do as many manual submission you can do in one day.....because all the submission are not going to approved in one day...it takes time and also search engine bot is not going to crawl all those in one day... so you do not need to worry on that manual submission count.

all that i can say is that slow and steady wins the race so proceed your submission with few say 20/25 per day and carry on forward, it will pay result and will give you time to read the submission guidelines of each directory which will be helpful for u buddy.

when it comes to thousands of links in a short period of time there are 2 possible ways:

1) submitting to paid directories

I doubt that you have the budget, the time to submit manually, the needed resources, the lists, the etc, to get thousands of links in a short period of time. So if you are going for this option keep going and let me know when you reach thousands of backlinks only from paid directories. Probably I'll have nephews untill then ( I'm only 20 now ).


2) submitting to free directories

As you probably already know, 99% of the free directories out there are crap. They have huge pending lists in que daily. They get spam and other shit. Submitting to thousands of free directories = submitting to few paid directories. In a free directory probably you link will never be indexed, or it will be indexed very sloooooooooowly. So if you are going for the free directories keep on wasting your time.


Don't talk about thousands of backlinks when it comes to directories. Directories are for those kind of quality strong backlinks you need to get known on the web. If you are talking about other types of link building, try to make the whole process as humanly as you can. Search engines are not stupid. If you are trying to achieve thousands of backlinks in a short period of time, make sure the whole mess will look as naturally as you can.

I few days ago a saw a free directory with over 36,000 pending links dont think there seeing to their backlog, lol

36k email addys must sell quite well though.

Submit 400 / day is ok ....

 

hyper is correct

look for quality, not quantity

 

But, just as an example, if it was free directories then you might not want to spend too long going through whatever it is you might have to go through to judge the quality.
