All phpLD Designers beware

hello my fellow phpLD designers,

i am writing this post to identify a scammer in your eyes so you guys stay away and don't waste your time.

a few days back i got a custom design request and the guy paid me $150 (50% Down payment)

In which i made clear that $125 is refundable and the other $25 is not if he doesn't like my mock up versions.

Well after two tries he was not satisfied with my design and he said that my skills weren't as good. (No problem)

I issued the refund of $125 as i mentioned. Even after that i got a paypal dispute with saying he expects $25 more.

I dont know his digitalpoint username, but here is the site he will be asking the design for:

RacingSpace.com and his example would be www.speedtv.com << Apparently whoever is designing he wants you to rip that design of even when he says he doesn't want it similar he wants it exactly like that.



If you know his username here then reveal it. Otherwise just stay cautious because i am sure you don't want to waste your time.

 

Just wondering what is his work?

I recommend you next time cancel the refund option,
as I still needed to pay although the design is not what I expect.
$25 is not a big deal but you can know what the guy is.

 

lol i do not know he is one of those guys who didn't know that speedtv was not fluid ... and yet he claims to be in the industry for 12 years, and can do the basic designs that i did.

 

Smub, if this guy ever comes over to phpLynx we won't allow the design to be ripped okay, this is about good people joining together to protect our interests from idiots like this. Personally I wouldn't have given him a refund and will tell you via p.m how to avoid this if you ever want advice okay.

$400 an hour? Nonsense, Lawyers are only on $160 on average. The guy is clearly a scammer.

well i m not ... i only issued the partial refund ... my $25 is still in my account ... but the fact that he opened the dispute shows the scammer part.

 

You should win the dispute. PayPal just need to see your terms stating $25 will not be refunded. Simply state $25 required for administration and set fees.

I will not want to comment on the design part. But you have done the right thing reporting the scammer.

I'm afraid you can have a problem with PayPal's dispute.
In most cases they take buyer's side, no matter what facts are.
Especially when it concerns not material goods.
It looks like they completely do not read dispute notes...
That's really annoying

and how is it your fault that they do not seem to know what they want (aside from straight copying another site)
you provided 2 very good layouts for them to consider and develop upon...I think that alone is well worth the $25

but then again I guess I'm biast I like all of the work you do it's always high quality

 

dude forget about the value of the design ... because i know they were good and i put hard work... but the fact that i hate the most that we agreed on a deal ... as i posted the ss of the pm, and then he went to do a chargeback.

 

Designs are worth it and the guy is a scammer.
Dont you deserve $25 from him for wasting your valuable time?

Btw i should fix an appointment and interview him for an hour, $400 for that right?

 

Personally, The way I myself work things is; if they are not satisfied, they dont pay. That's just me though.
However, in this particular casde, it appeared as though there was an agreement between the two of you, whereas if you could not come to terms on design, you were reserving the right to $25 of the $150 which was originally put down.
I think he is in the wrong based on what you two originally came to terms with.

Looks really good. Tell you what, since the person is apparently no longer interested in these designs, I will buy them from you if these designs are finished and if you give me a good price for these PM me for details.

 

can you actually win a paypal dispute? I thought you don't really stand a chance.
