Does anyone know whether putting Adsense for search or Adsense for content on a 404 not found page is against the Adsense ToS? For clarity, when a user enters a duff URL they get a 404 not found page. If you set your site up to show a custom 404 page and apply adsense on it, does this violate Google's ToS?
You could put some content on the page I suppose - even if it's just some summary sitemap info and links back to the main site??
From the adsense tos Section 5 - "Prohibited Uses" "You shall not, and shall not authorize or encourage any third party to: [...] (v) display any Ad(s), Link(s), or Referral Button(s) on any error page, on any registration or "thank you" page (e.g., a page that thanks a user after he/she has registered with the applicable Web site) [...]"
Good call - That part must not have sunk in when I read through the ToS - either that or I had suffered brain death by the time I got there... Thanks for the steer - much appreciated.
I think it is against the Google adsense policy Google want to run adsense on quality sites with quality contents. Google has banned my sites for adsense which has poor contents so 404 pages is not allowed
Their TOS clearly says, you have put adsense on pages with content and not pages like a contact form etc where the visitor cannot do anything else other than to click on ads
if the 404 page does have more content rather that just a message saying page not found you can use adsense...
