Hi I want to get no 1 in google forthe term Cornwall It returns about 15,000,000 results how achiveable is this?? And How should I do it my url is www.visitdevonandcornwall.com I have done similar in Yahoo but I want to crack google Any tips would be great I do have a page for cornwall http://www.visitdevonandcornwall.com/cornwall Jamie
It would be extremey hard, going up again all those tourist/gov sites, perhaps your time would be better spent on two word phrases and related terms rather than concentrating on one large difficult keyword.
Give these tools a bash. I've no idea how accurate they are, though a few words I tested on the first tool made sense 1 university, 2 dog eating bird ) http://www.searchguild.com/difficulty/ http://www.seologs.com/keyword-difficulty.html
Thanks, I am doing alright for the smaller terms, I just did a load of reasearch and the big money for me is in "Cornwall" and I want the big money now!!! and I will get it some how. I will not be a Bush (failure) would you suggest targeting the initial pag or target the second level Cornwal page Jamie
A mixture of both will get two listings in the top 20 with some work which is always more beneficial, for some of my terms the second internal page picks up a lot of traffic on page 2 with my main homepage on page 1 of G.
Dude, WHY do you want to be #1 for cornwall? am I assuming that you think it will bring you in lots of Kudos for advertisers? Personally I would say that the monumental effort needed will actually harm your SEM, as you will be wasting backlink anchor text that could be better used spread across other phrases/deeper link pages.
Might also be worth decreasing your keyword density http://www.seochat.com/?go=1&option=com_seotools&tool=6&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.visitdevonandcornwall.com%2FCornwallmap.php&termno=100&include_title=1&numerals=0&words=1&submit=Analyze
Jim bob you never replied to my PM did you? you still had a link on my site anyway good luck making it to the big money
I understand, also I guess its all eggs in one basket, an algo update and its gone. But i cannot track down where else to target - I am looking at my logs and find it hard to work out where to focus my efforts, its a total mash of all sorts, the only terms that stick out are from Yahoo an are Devon and Cornwall Sorry, I will pm you later To what levels?
You should understand first that Google will look on the KW Cornwall as a generic word and so people searching on it are looking for info on Cornwall. In short you need to be a directory - that you are not. You are a listing of accomodation etc. in the area. If you wish to be a directory you need to have lots of relevant OBLs
I'm still experimenting myself, but from my reading here, I have the feeling that it should be in the 5% region for google. I'm happy to be corrected on this by the more experience guys and gals
From reading the other posts, maybe 'cornwall holidays' or 'cornwall accommodation' could be better phrases to aim at.
Cornwall Accommdoation brings little traffic I am looking at Cornwall Holidays and similar. Are you saying the term Cornwall is to broard for my site in Google opinion? But anything more targetted ie Cornwall/accommodation/hotels/holidays/breaks would be more suitable?
Here's some good Google tools listed by Larry Chase. In particular, Google Suggest should be of some help.
