Less than an hour? Not everyone lives on here waiting to drop everything to answer any question someone may ask

    Q) How to make a good website?
    A) Use someone who is good at making websites

answer: they hire a professional designer and pay him/her hundres of dollars. I don't think 70$ and hour as a contract worker is outrageous for a freelancing professional.

Think of design like carpentry. If you build your tower out of free scraps of wood using little bits of free blueprints from ehre and there it's not going to hold up, and will eventually fall apart.

You get what you pay for.

And I guess if you need an operation you should learn how to do the surgery yourself too?

Well, if you surgery needed daily maintenance then yes. Yes you would.

I think it's kind of like a custom built rocketship. Yes you can pay somebody else to make it for you, but when you're riding solo and something goes wrong and you don't know how to fix it, it doesn't take long for things to get out of control.

Would say the majority who need daily medical treatment still dont decide to become a doctor but their doctors make things as easy as possible for them to self administer and give them the necessary skills to do those bits.

On the rocket ship example the NASA astranaughts who are riding the ship wouldnt be able to build their own rocket ship but instead have someone at the other end of the line who can.

At the end of the day, if it is a hobby then sure, if you like the idea of programming then learn how to do it yourself. If however your income, ability to feed yourself/ family depends on the site then you really should invest properly in it.... if you think a professional is expensive then you should see how much an amateur will cost

If there are daily elements you want/ need then get the developer to create the tools you need to be able to do these yourself, CMS etc.
