    OK, I'll try both....

The 1866 number gives me a busy tone. So I'll try again later.

I just called the Tech support number and got thru to the philipines. The Rep said I cannot transfer my domain name due to DomainPrivacy and Globat being down, he cant access my information. So much for getting my site back up today.

I have to agree with Qthooga about things to be aware of.

I am in the 5th year with Globat, and I just renewed for an additional 5 years. This outage is the first major one I have experienced during that time. Their service has always been good for me, and I have had the best luck getting my problems resolved using the on-line chat feature. (Obviously that is not going to work today)

I'm as bummed as the rest of you by this outage, but I am looking at it a lot differently that many of you. I am paying roughly $4 a month (if you renew for long term) for a large amount of web hosting, with nice features. If I was looking at bullet proof hosting company, I would be paying $40 - $200 a month and expect zero outages. Nothing on my two domains (wislander.com & angrybunnycomic.com) is so important that it will be the end of the world if I cannot get to them. If it were I would be paying the extra dollars for a business class hosting service.

Keep in mind every, and I mean EVERY cheap hosting service will have some form of service disruption in one form or another. In most cases unless you are sitting in front of your system 24/7 playing working with your site, you will probably not even realize the disruption happened. When it happens noticeably, like this, it is a pain, but keep in mind everyone with a gripe with the company, real or imagined, comes out of the woodwork and is the first to slam them.

There are thousands of hosting companies out there. Each offer their own plan and management style; and most of them will give you their own headaches and issues. For me, Globat fits my need just fine.. now if I could just upload my next comic installment and get to the damn control console I would be fine.

Mamacat, I have used Globat for at least 5 years. Probably more like 7. Anyway, I have had 2 other outages in that time. This is by far the worst. I don't like it, but I'm prepared to cut them a little slack because I have had good service, good prices and customer support has been, for the most part, good.

I hope they learn a few ideas about communicating with their customers from this incident. Someone way back posted something about being honest and transparent when things like this happen. Globat has not been honest and transparent about this very serious outage. A little communication would placate people and keep disgruntled customers with them. Busy phone numbers and internet silence won't. I hope they read these posts.

Well i just chatted with them again. each time you get someone different. i called at noon today and they told me 4-5 hours so its 5 oclock now 5 hours are up and the guy says well the servers should be up in 2-5 lol sheese they should atleast stick with the same story. then he say he will let his supervisor no. i said well i am certain that he already nows this . so god only nows how much more time it will take. you cant predict when something like this will happen stuff happens with no control but they new from certain things happening that the server was taxed as many times when i go onto my site it half loads or its doesnt load at all and then comes back in 5 minutes . i think that they need more servers to accomidate the customers. after all thats what we pay for.

Another member of Club "Globat Down" here. Bless madam Google and all who sail in her.

As with others, the downtime is only a minor concern, the major one is ensuring I back up all the data in the db on that server pronto.

More damaging for dear Globat however is that the complaints I've always had about them and kept to myself seem to be being echoed here many times over.

One tip however - if you want to opt out of their bloody sinister "marketing" reply to the mail firmly but politely and it should cease. I got fed up receiving 5 emails with the same offer at the same time all threatening to take my money unless I opted out - one mail, putting the decision in my hands is acceptable, five is not, and opting out if not criminal should be.

I have the kiss of death with web hosts anyway, this is my third host in 6 years, and each one was great to begin with before turning rotten and grinding to a halt. Looks like I'm done with cheap hosts now and will have to pay for quality...

    What,,,Globat.com N0oo thank you !
Globat.com does not provide a good service,They are one of the worst. I am sick of tired to get error messages and vey slow loading webpages.Specialy the last 5 weeks all my websites (bluemirrow.com and kingofcyber.com)and another 3 on and offline utleast 4-5 times a day. With e-mails: dont expect a reply, phone calls:Yadadadyadadayadayada and still nothing will be fixed.Only promises and lies realy nothing else,If you let them know about your problems either they will blame you, your script, your internet connection, but they never got any problems with their servers everything looks fine. But they are very quick and efficient 99.99999 % on time to charge your credit card.It is your money, your time, your website, thing twice before doing any bussines with globat.com.

I've been with them for a few years and haven't have any issues with them. I actually complained abotu the constant upgrade emails and they stopped sending them to me. This outage is a first for me and it has me worried. I've never been unable to read them on the rare times I had an issue.

First time poster who also sailed here via the Google Ocean...

I've been reading this forum all day and am glad to say my site finally came back up minutes ago. I wouldn't know about email since I don't use theirs (and my card has never been charged... hrmmm...), but we're back in business :D.

My sites are up and login page came up. That's at least some progress. I would hope they post some info soon as to what happened and what they are doing to prevent it in the future.

My site isn't up... I got Globat's main page, but then a "fatal error" when trying to get the support page. Oh well, I'm going to bed.
