Google Bombshell EXPLAINED ---- GOOGLE IS SPYING ON THIS FORUM

Discussion in 'Google' started by DinoCagney, Feb 19, 2008.

Ok, I have a confession to make...

I really DID find a Google Bombshell --- and I should have kept it a secret, but instead --- I exposed it ---- and I exposed it to get feedback on how it was possible..... out of excitement --- but then I figured it out on my own, and then quickly edited my original post to hide the secret --- but it was too late --- 40 people read the post and the loophole looks like it was fixed

What I didnt realize is --- Google must be monitoring what's going on here.

    Ok, I'll explain what happened:

    Here's what happened:

The last few days... I've been searching "Boston Real Estate, Boston Condos, Boston Real Estate for sale, Boston Condos for sale, etc."

Right now... if you put Boston Condos for sale.... Boston.com comes up #1

BUT.. yesterday, and the last few days..... Boston.com would come up #1... but RIGHT ABOVE it.... would be a link saying LUXURY CONDOS BOSTON .COM and a MAP and then www.lofts boston.com written below........... they somehow manipulated Google to have their name as "BOSTON CONDOS FOR SALE" -- so they come up #1 by cheating (or by accident)

I was shocked ----- and said geez --- this is the way to #1 --- you can skip 10 years of SEO --- this is a massive loophole....

Well -- either Google Ninjas were lurking on here --- or someone dropped a dime --- because now, if you search Boston Condos For Sale it doesnt come up anymore (and I got 40 responses on that other post people thinking im soft as a grape)

This is a Sad Day for Google Secrets

Those Ninjas Are On here ---- watch out because they are right in front of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm lost too? Are you talking about that PPC ad that appears above the organic results?

No, they haven't manipulated anything. It's all how Google perceives a business. I very highly doubt these guys hacked Google, I would suspect upon manual review when creating Google maps, somebody made a cock-up. Unless someone can prove me wrong:p

Its strange... I mean, check out that image --- you type in Boston Condos for sale --- and that website that isnt even on the top 20 comes up #1.... as a map.... like as a business directory.... even though their name is "Luxury COndos Boston" or "Lofts Boston" or whatever they are

No it wasnt a sponsored link --- look above, the guy from Singapore captured a screen shot of it ---- for some reason though, it appears it stopped in the U.S. (unless these Google Ninjas are watching and are calling their Google Ninja cousins in Asia)

Is DinoCagney just getting excited because he found a Google Local result for the first time?

This "loophole" has been out for a while, ever since google expanded maps into the foil of their universal search. The map comes up when you try a localized search, type a city name and a service type or business type and you'll get a few suggestions from google on a map. This map appearing first thing without ranking. I seen this minipulated with people registering a bunch of locations on the map as their location without even being there physically.

    Anyways here is another example:
