They are trying to show that they are a force to be reckoned with. Most of Europe has gone so liberal that they won't do anything about it for fear of being called racists.

20 years ago this would not be happening. The police would have been out there banging heads.

The Muslim population is growing rapidly in Europe. Things like this will continue to get worse. This is just the beginning.

They don't do it out of frustration. That's just an excuse. They do it because no one stops them from doing it.

Europe has negative demographics. It wouldn't be long before what happened in Kosovo happens to some other European countries. The Serbs were a majority not to long ago in Kosovo. There are only 7 million Serbs and it wouldn't be long before they are a minority in Serbia.

Like I've said all along. We were on the wrong side in Kosovo.

The ethnic Albanians (Muslims) created the problem and started assassinating police when they cracked down on them. The Serbs were just trying to regain control of their country.

As we found out after the war, the reports of ethnic cleansing were greatly exaggerated. Many, many more civilians were killed when NATO invaded.

Before the War there was over 350,000 Serbs in Kosovo and today there is only around 120,000 left.

The Europeans certainly have a situation that they are not safe in their own countries. There have been quite a few major muslim riots over last few years as well as terrorist attacks in both Spain and London.

Law is law, being liberal is no excuse for being inaction in times of troubles. Demonstrations is ok but violent acts like rioting and burning of vehicles are criminal in nature and should be prosecuted as such, there is nothing to do with race or religion for that matter.

The police should be banging their heads against the walls for such inaction and impotency.

This is what the publishing of a cartoon causes in a civilized society

That is not a result from the civilized part of civilized society. It is what happens when civilized people and governments become Euro-pussies.

They do it because no one stops them from doing it.

All that is needed is just a normal leader who has a grasp of the situation and dare to take responsibilities for actions to stop such uncivilized and criminal acts. You won't even need a Churchill for this.

Hey mate, you need a good leader, who can teach these dutch newspaper to respect people who're different, who're brown. There is a complete apathy, no understanding of cultural taboos of other people. The newspapers published those disgusting and offensive cartoons, only to PROVOKE.

    And then they start complaining...

The world needs more understanding and mutual respect if there has to be peace.

What makes you think that you have the right to immigrate to Europe and tell Dutch Newspapers what to print.

Van Gogh made a controversial film critical of Islamic culture and was assisinated in his own country, the Netherlands, by an Islamic militant.

From what I've read, the rule that no images shall be made of Mohammad is just one interpretation of the religious texts, and this interpretation has not been the same throughout the history of Islam. While I recognize that Muslims find these images offensive, I think it's important to realize that the rest of the world (including myself) doesn't understand this rule in the first place. There were no cameras around in the time of Mohammad, so how is anyone to know what he looked like? If I were to say "gauharjk's avatar is of the Prophet Mohammad," would you refute this statement or take down the picture? That avatar is an illustration, and therefore not a true image of any particular person, but if one person decides that it is an image of Mohammad, wouldn't that person be just as right as anyone else?

Apathy and ignorance of cultural taboos exist everywhere. Denying the Holocaust is something most Jews find offensive, yet you'll find the leaders of some countries, including Iran, supporting this denial. The cartoon I saw in the Danish (not Dutch) newspaper appeared to be a statement of how Islam is perceived as a violent religion in parts of the world. By responding to this cartoon with violence, this perception is only further established.

I have no problem with the "purported" images of the Prophet, coz they're not real anyway, they're just illustrations. But when it is done in a bad way, to mock Muslims around the world, like the dutch newspapers have done, it is unacceptable to even the most liberal Muslims. The only reason to do it is to send a message "We don't fucking care about anyone else"

These newspapers have shown utter lack of respect to a revered personality. It may be OK to insult someone in dutch culture, but it isn't so in the East. We, irrespective of religion, know to respect each other's cultures and traditions, something most ********* don't understand.

What a sad world....I think one of the cartoonist stated that he "didn't hate muslims, just their book and their ideology." Or something to that effect....after seeing this, I have to agree...

It doesn't matter what their intent was. It doesn't matter who they offended. If muslims are offended by freedom of speech, then they should go live in Saudi Arabia where their fascist, disgusting, and uncivilized ways will be accepted.

No civilized person burns down cars endlessly for weeks in a row over a cartoon. It's immature, pointless, and only hurts their world image. It does absolutely nothing for them except build more support for the other side.

He tries to make it a race issue based on brown skin. So he is saying all muslims are brown skin or that all who have brown skin are muslim....

Either way it is hilarious every time the race card gets pulled when someone picks on a group of evildoers.

There's plenty of muslims in the Balkans in Europe.

An issue with race concerning muslims is the genocide in Dafur.

Wikipedia states that the Sudanese military and Janjawid, a militia from the Arab tribes, who are opposed to religions other than Islam are responsible for killing 200,000-400,000 Africans.

Except free speech when it talks about Islam.

Just because you say it does not make it true. Islam is not respectful of my traditions and culture or it would not be violently trying to suppress free speech.

If the offended Muslims were civilized, they would peacefully protest actions they disagree with - instead they use threats of violence and intimidation. The violent response shows the truth about Islamic respect for western traditions and culture.

Personally, I wish more countries would print cartoons like these, as I think it exposes the insecure and violent underbelly of Islam.
