I doubt it, there usually pretty strict about ownership of account. Like everyone else said try contacting them and telling them the situation. Else it wont take that long to make a new account and verify it.

I think they would in the event the person is already deceased... by law, it would go to the next of kin. Power of attorney (again, per the law) would also grant the next of kin (or whoever has the power of attorney) control/ownership of the account.

Why not arrange for the son to get an AdSense account and then change all the publisher numbers? Shouldn't take all that long.

Change the publisher ID number after the son opens his own account, will be quick and easy... Also what is with people thinking about how to get/spend money from the not yet dead family. In my day this was something that wasnt worried about until the family member was gone. Dont deserve any money if you ask me.
