i'm interested in writing a press release to advertise some, new features on one of my sites...i've never done this before and i was wondering what sites are the best ones(most traffic/highest PR) that allow you to freely submit a press release. I know there are some similar threads out there, but i'm mainly interested in which are the best sites to which i can submit a press release for free

I would be interested in this information as well. I am thinking about submitting a press release for a new site that I'm about to start promoting. Any info would be appreciated.

Not sure what kind of press release you are looking for, but my friend Dan runs a great business over at http://www.pressadvance.com I haven't used his services before, but I have only heard good things.

I think it's mainly for hosting companies though.

Sorry if I come across as thick, but I don't understand why people try to use PRs to promote a new website or, in your case, a website's features. PRs are intended to reach the eyes of journalists, who will likewise use the PR to write an article which will, in turn, get you traffic. Linkbacks from PRs are minimal in and of themselves... maybe you'll score one or two hits here and there.

I've used PRs many times in the past for important news (news that a lot of people actually care about), and have been successful. PRWeb.com has been good to me, but they charge for their services. I haven't heard of any free PR service yielding particularly impressive results...

The people I know who have used PR's have done very well with driving traffic to their websites. Maybe you are using the wrong people for your PR's? The PR's I am familiar with are companies writing an article for you and getting it posted on as many credible websites as possible. These sort of PR's usually do pretty well at getting some traffic and business to your company.
